Found a window sticker for the 2016 that appears in stock (probably still in transfer) at the local dealer.

Somehow interestingly, there is no mention of "start-stop" technology, no standard HDMI port... Some discrepancies between what was promised, what's in the 2016 brochure and what's actually being produced was also pointed out in another thread (http://www.dodgedurango.net/forums/...orums/durango-discussions-2014/22961-2016-dodge-durango-dealership-booklet.html)

Found a dealer with actual (and quite detailed pics) of the 2016:

New 2016 Dodge Durango Limited For Sale in Indianapolis IN |

Looks like the steering wheel got a different logo and the engine cover is different for the Pentastar with Start/Stop technology. Obviously, new control panel with some additional buttons. Few good pics of the 'upgraded' uConnect system with menu icons being customizable.

So how long can you string them along? I mean you ordered it, was it part of the deal that they could wait as long as you want until a favorable lease deal comes through? I'm the last guy in the world to ever come to a dealers defense but I'd just sell it to whoever showed up that wanted it if I was them.

They'll hold it until the Feb incentives are out next week. If the lease rates are still horrible, I'll just let them sell it to someone else and wait to reorder until the lease terms are favorable (if I survive my wife's wrath). :(

It sucks to be completely in the dark on pricing when doing a special order, but it's been impossible to find exactly the vehicle I want (and that my wife agrees on) otherwise. Seems everything with the features I want comes with the 2nd row captains chairs, which are a no-go for me. And I've become obsessed with the Max Steel color, making things even more difficult.

Some interesting other "news" from my sales rep, which you may take with a grain of salt. He's been trying to get word from Dodge about CarPlay plans. Their response is there will be no CarPlay in the 2016 or 2017 Durango. It will be added to the 2018 Durango. He said the redesign is pushed back to 2018. Again, take it with a grain of salt.

12 years. And I hear you, brother. It's been utterly boring to drive and look at. That said, it's been 12 years with nothing more needed than tires, a battery, a timing belt, and two brake/rotor jobs. On the downside, my wife has managed to back it into other vehicles 3 times (the last time being only last week!) so I will be thrilled to have a backup camera and rear collision sensors.

We did the lifetime warranty on our '14 Durango and didn't pay anywhere near $2300. Shop around. You don't have to buy it from the selling dealer.

I have to admit, all of the FCA news lately has me a little gun shy about the possible second Durango. They're basically betting the farm on trucks, SUVs and cross overs. When (not if) fuel prices go back up (despite what Serigo says its a given) they could be in a ton of trouble.

It's another reason I think we'll lease ours too (assuming the terms improve).

I am getting anxious... new R/T is expected at the dealership anyday. Ordered 2015 Citadel Rims and Chrome OEM Mirrors caps. Still have to figure out how to replace the grille to Citadel Chrome. I believe the entire front bumper has to be removed to replace the Grille.

Ours is due in this week. We signed the papers on Sat, to lock in $1250 worth of incentives which expire today ($500 personal + $750 consumer cash). Decided to add an 8 year, 120k mile Mopar warranty as well (paid $1920 for it). We opted for the 8yr over the lifetime due to the lifetime not being transferable if we decide to sell in the next 8 years.

The dealer gave us a 2015 Limited as a loaner until the new one arrives. This loaner is Redline, with the Ralleye package. I'm assuming the R/T will look the same, as many of the '15 Ralleye items are standard on the '16 R/T (body color grille, body color wheel well trim, dual exhaust, roof rack delete, etc ...). And our new one is Redline as well. I suppose the 20" wheels will be a different style though ...

We sold our 2012 Crew to my brother, who came by after we picked up the loaner. In comparing the two, it looks like the ride heights have changed significantly over the years. The 2012 Crew has a much higher stance than the 2015 Limited. I checked over the 2015's window sticker, and there's no mention of a suspension package to account for the difference.

And on that note, 2016 the R/T is supposed to be even 20mm lower than the 2015 Limited; So we expect the new one to be quite a bit lower in stance than our 2012 Crew was. Should make for a nice handling improvement.

I picked mine up on Friday, exactly 7 weeks after I placed the order. Maximum Steel R/T with Tech and Tow packages.
Dang I love Max Steel! Ours is identical to yours - sitting on the dealer lot right now awaiting reasonable (hopefully) lease incentives later this week.

The new R/T rims are such a huge improvement over the old ones IMO. Much sportier/bad looking.

Looks great! Are the headlights smoked? Also thought the R/Ts had factory tint on the front windows. Doesn't look like it from the pictures, but maybe it's just very light.

Would you mind taking a measurement from the ground to the bottom of the driver's exterior door handle? I'd like to compare it to the 2015 Limited we have here as a loaner.

#202 ·
Thanks. The Limited I have here measures just over 40-1/2". This one does have the Ralleye package, although that shouldn't change the suspension. Strange the '16 R/T is taller...

On the build sheet for my '16 R/T order, it lists:
  • Tinted Windshield Glass
  • Front Door Tinted Glass

Maybe because I am in Texas, where front window tint is legal?

OK I gotta ask - I've been to 3 different dealers down here in NC and even called and talked to a Rep at Chrysler and they said they have no idea when the 2016 Durangos are going to be out. The rep for Chrysler said I could order one but they may not even be in for 5-7 weeks. Where are you all where you are seeing 2016s and ordering them? I just bought a 2015 R/T on Saturday because the lease on my Jeep Grand was up soon and I didn't want to risk being without a car. I love the R/T I got and the deal was good so I'm not that upset. The thing that surprised me about it was that it was a 2015 but it was manufactured in November of 2015 - aren't 2015 models usually manufactured from September 2014 through May-June 2015?

No such standard practice anymore.. a "model year" production can start and stop whenever.. for example, 2014 GCs started production in January 2013 (mine was made in June 2013).

Model years no longer hew exactly to the timeframes from 20 years ago. Order banks for the 2016 Durango opened, I believe, in early December with builds starting right before/after Christmas week.

They're starting to show up on dealer lots (do a cars.com search) and at least a couple of folks on here have taken delivery, or are close.

Typically an ordered vehicle takes 6-8 weeks from order to delivery at the dealer. You just need a dealer that's willing to do so....

I was coming on to post this - you can finally build a '16 Durango on Dodge.com --> Dodge - Build & Price - Select Model, but need to use that link as the main vehicle page does not yet show the 2016s, and the build and price takes you automatically to the 15 model year.

Well I'll be dipped in $hit! That's a riot! You're right - you can build one using the link you posted but can't do anything directly when you go to their web site. You also can't change the variables on the payment estimator. Well... not really a big deal to me. I got a good deal on my 15 and its really on 2-3 month old anyway. Besides I just "built" a 2016 and it is equipped just like mine but its MSRP is more. The dealer gave me a lifetime powertrain warranty too so I'm happy. Thanks for the info guys.

"tinted windshield glass" and "tinted front door glass" are just the usual tinted glass.. what was once called Solex and so forth.. a slight greenish or bluish tint (or brownish for a short time on some european cars)

Some of you younger folks might not remember when "tinted windows" of this sort were not at all standard.. attached is a page from the price list for 1969 Chryslers, and this pale tinted glass was not standard even on these top-line models.. (from imperialclub;com)

(also note the much more a la carte ordering possibilities back in the day..)
