This is my first post. I came here for some answers to a really frustrating situation with my new vehicle. On December 5th I bought a brand new, nobody had ever driven it, 2014 Citadel. Loved it until the brakes started squealing when I would brake in drive-thrus, at school pick-up, driving thru parking lots, pulling in to my garage, etc. at around 1500 miles. I took it in twice and all they could tell me was that this was normal. Finally, the 3rd time I took it in they replaced the brake pads with a more expensive, after market set. About 3 days later, the brakes started squealing again, only louder. Finally they gave me the number to call Dodge Customer Cares and still they say it's normal and this kind of brake just squeaks. At this point I want them to buy it back. I have had many new vehicles of all makes - Pontiac, Nissan, Chrysler and Ford and never had this problem before!!!! Is this normal??? Has anyone else had this problem???? It's a total deal breaker for me. New cars should not have squeaky brakes!!!!!!!!!!!! It now has 5500 miles on it I am still dealing with squealing brakes. It's not constant but it's at least every other day and when it gets going its several times a day. Help!!!!
I should also add that its RWD and has a Hemi, if that makes a difference.
I would give them a chance to replace the entire Brakes(rotors and pads again)
They will not replace the vehicle based upon Brake squeal, yes it can be very annoying but it is somewhat (not always ) with new Brake systems to make a little noise, semi metallic pads used in Heavy Duty Brake system.
Address with Chrysler ad see what they have to say

They opened up a case on it thru Dodge Customer Cares last week. I dropped it off at the dealership on Thursday where the "Level 3" service team called the dealership and worked through the issues (there are a couple of others with extreme oil usage and black smoke) and did nothing to the vehicle and simply said that everything works fine and brakes just squeal because they no longer make them with asbestos. My question to them is that I have driven 3 other brand new Dodge vehicles (Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Journey) while they have been working on mine, why don't those brakes squeal???? Every Durango owner I have stopped on the street to ask if they have squeaky brakes say No, they don't. Why is it just me?????
I don't want to pick my car up until it's fixed!!!
Also, I don't think they changed out the rotors. Why wouldn't they have changed out the rotors?????
Because that is how warranty work goes
Start off with minimal repairs and then gradually it all gets changed out anyway
For the record mine do not squeal on my 2013 with 7500 miles on it. when I do notice a chirp every blue moon I simply do a few quick accelerating hard stops and rotors and pads get a quick clean off. Not always a good thing to baby brakes, one of the worst things is traffic. Rotors and pads get hot and all metal bits just get welded and worked into those surfaces.
Also have you noticed Police cruisers of all types make a bunch of Brake squeal...reason most police pkgs include FULL Metal Brake pads and Forged Rotors a Recipe for metal to metal squeak, but long life and excellent Braking
Sorry you are fighting this battle

I have a 2014 Durango RT and yes the brakes squeal every day...pulling into parking spot, at drive thrus, car lines, etc. I have taken to Dodge twice and they say the do not hear it. It is very annoying!
Dodge Durango 2013 R/T Hemi, purchased new...squeaking brakes as well. During forceful stopping, no noise. Light braking, as in coming to a complete stop, parking, slowing down for speed bumps, stop signs/lights...its awful!!! You know its bad when you are driving down a little quaint downtown setting, cafe tables on the sidewalk, people enjoying a nice lunch and a glass of wine...I slow down gently and the squeal starts, and everybody looks for the idiot that wont fix his car!
Everytime taken to the dealer: everything looks fine and working. The did replace the pads and the squeal resolved for a few weeks. It's intermittant, but it squeaks more than 75% of the time. Took to the dealer 3 times now without any resolution. The last time they were checked the response was "Well, its because of the material that they are now made of"..."nothing we can do unless you want to spend about $6000.00" for some exotic type of brake material...
I just found this site and will continue my quest for resolution.
UPDATE 5/4/17 The dealer found a "bulletin" regarding slow speed light braking squeal. There was suposedly a fix...replaceing some pins and springs. it worked for a day but then started back up again. Aparently it helps 50% of the issues, too bad mine was in the other half.
Any other resolutions?
Try semi-metallic brake pads. My ceramic brake pads squeak also, just the nature of them. Semi-metallic won't last as long and will make more brake dust though.
I have a 05 and the cheapest semi metallic brake pads squeak and squeal bad on mine.
I would buy a new set of pads and within 4 days it would be squealing. It drove me completely nuts. That noise is like nails on a chalk board too me.
I went with ceramic pads and haven't had a squeak or squeal since and so much cleaner with very little brake dust.
The pads cost me about $50 a set.
My factory pads were fantastic!
Never a squeal or squeak.
I got my D used in 08 and pads were good till 2013 when it. hit metal to metal.
Hi, I owned a 2014 Durango SXT V6 and from my experience I think my brakes squeak because some of the tire shine fluid goes into the rotor surface. Everytime, I used this, I try to make sure it does not goes in the brake rotor. I owned a journey and had the same problem. so far my brakes will squeak ONLY IN THE MORNIG coming out of my driveway.
