The head rest on my passenger side of my Dodge Durango exploded!
I thought a car hit me but my car was not moving, I just sat there in shock.
I am totally freaking out as to when the driver's side will explode, I just pray I'm not driving down the interstate.

Any success on a recall?
My warranty just went out too.

It's not a warranty, it's a recall. See the post above.

This is what I was told by dealership #2.

You might ask about a year. Just called another dodge dealer and they told me the same thing. Just two software updates. They go by your vin.

There is a warranty extension out for this concern. Can you send us your VIN? We can see if you are included.

I guess the key word is certain.

Mine is a 2014 and did not make the recall list.

Send your VIN to Kaitlin and see if you might be included. Send her a PM with your VIN. I'm surprised and pleased when Dodge Cares posts here and we need to take advantage of it.

One thing you can do to help the process, would be to go to the NHTSA web site, and file a complaint about your issue. FCA has already been prompted to fix a number of these head rests based upon an NHTSA investigation. By filing, you let them know there are other vehicles outside of the current VIN range that also need attention.

Also, be aware that all dealers are not the same Some cannot find their behind with both hands! Your issue is a serious and expensive one, and should absolutely be taken care of by FCA at no cost to you.

Just for the record, I got the letter about the recall. My Durango is a 16, so I assume it's been extended.

I called 2 dealerships and I guess the key word on the 2014 D.D. is certain 2014 D.D were chose to recall.

Any suggestions on getting it fixed?

The head rest don't have an explosive charge like air bags. It's basically a heavy duty spring the pushes the head rest forward when activated. What's been happening are the plastic retaining latches are fatiguing and failing.
