2013 Durango R/T - Electrical Issues - HELP PLEASE

Vehicle: 2013 Durango R/T AWD 5.7L
Issue: In March the vehicle began occasionally having random dash warning lots pop on and issues starting. In April the problem magnified into gauges failing and wipers automatically running (despite having them in the off position). Weeks later the car decided to start and not start when it wanted and eventually not allowing me to remove from park.

What I’ve Tried:
1. Replaced Battery - ensured connectors were not damaged and were clean
2. Checked Alternator Voltage - shows appropriate #’s when car runs but I do see some of the copper wiring beginning to fray inside and cannot be certain but a loud noise (fan/humming) starts up whenever I’m able to get the car to start and it’s sat parked for more than a few minutes.
3.Checked/Replaced Fuses
4. Replaced Fuel Pump Relay - dealer did weeks back but still after the issue started and didn’t fix the issue
5. Checked all visible Ground Terminals/Wires - that were visible to me at least
6. Hard TIPM Reset - fixed the issue for a couple weeks but eventually the issues came back
7. Replaced the TIPM - did this today following step by step instructions and the issue not only still exists but new electrical issues developed
*I believe that is because of issues w/the programming and will call the manufacturers technicians tomorrow to diagnose

I am posting this proactively as I do not believe the technicians will be able to assist and I have already taken the vehicle to 2 mechanics and a Dealership in the last month with no conclusive diagnosis. In fact, the car tends to start for them go figure. Any help would be greatly appreciated as a single parent in desperate need of transportation for kids and work. 🙏🏽

Thanks, Dodge customer service did not help at all. After months of being at the Dodge dealership, they diagnose the problem to be a power steering module. That corrected most of the issues but months later I am now experiencing drivetrain issues related to the all-wheel-drive system as well. Car is now clicking, wheels binding at slow speeds when turning, and jerk shifts passing the 10mph mark with random AWD/traction control lights coming on at times. Took it for service based on a Dodge Bulletin claiming a ECU flash would fix the same described problems but not didn’t resolve those issues.

Your transfer case is messed up either from mismatched tires or many miles on your car. You could need the chain done or the module in the transfer case. There are other issue people find so try searching for transfer case on the forum for other ideas.

Thank you and an update, I replaced the transfer case control module about an hour ago. These issues went away thus far or are not occurring currently:
  • AWD service light not coming on as it was when I drove for 15+ minutes or hit speeds above 45-65mph
  • Binding Wheels at low speeds when turning (e.g., on inclines/declines, backing out of a driveway or parking)
  • 1-2nd gear up shift slip or jerk

However, the Traction Control OFF Light is now persistently on beginning at vehicle start and I am still not able to switch manually from AWD Auto to Low Range.
*I also replaced 2 rear tires and the tread on my front tires are at a 6 which I will replace in the near future (assuming I can identify and resolve the current issues).

I have scoured all forums here and elsewhere for weeks related to these issues and am stumped.

Any additional thoughts given the updated information above? Thank you in advance 🙏

Give it a day or two for the car to learn the new module. That might clear the error for you.

Hello, were you able to figure out what was going on with your vehicle? I am currently having the same issue with my 2013 Dodge Durango RT. Flashing dash lights, wipers going on, vehicle rubbing when you’re not even pushing the gas, car not going into drive…. Any information you can provide would be great.

Have your battery load tested and replace it if it's not at 100% of load capacity. The Durango is very particular about it's battery power and poor power can trigger all kinds of anomalies.
