Ok Here's the 2007 Plant tour sign ups and info page!
The 2007 Durango Plant tour will be on October 19th in Newark Delaware.
The tour will be on Friday the 19th of October starting at 9-930 AM.
We have made arrangements for a Block of Rooms at the Sleep Inn in Newark, Delaware.
We'll start our annual event as usual with Most arriving on Thursday afternoon. This is usually followed by a kickoff dinner (dining information to follow) and is usually attended by a few Plant Staff as well. Dinner is usually followed up by a Durango Schmooze where we can all talk D and put faces to names that we have never met in person.
Friday Morning we'll line up at the Hotel for a convoy to the Newark Plant.
This Year we're attempting to add an addittional item to our agenda for Plant tour Day. We're working on, with the help of Jo Ann from the Durango Plant, A special Tour of the Mopar Parts Distribution Center next door to the Plant. The Plant usually runs from about 930am -1230pm which includes a Great Luncheon put on for us by Plant Staff.
The Hotel Info is as follows and please make reservations as soon as you know you'll be attending. Also Add your name to the list below please copy and paste to keep the form flowing.
The hotel is the SLEEP INN. Make your reservations now by calling 302-453-1700 and using the code DURANGO OWNERS CLUB. The rate is $69 per night + tax and includes a continental Breakfast each day.

As with every years plant tours there'll be a $20 fee for members and a $30 for non members which includes a 1 Year Membership in the DOC. Monies can be sent to the DOC Paypal Address DOCMembership07@durangoclub.com

They're looking for us to have around 50 people max but said we can be a bit over if necessary

Ok folks,
They anticipate it will be resolved shortly as the only reason for the strike was a time deadline was not met.
I Spoke with Joann at the Durango Plant today to confirm we're still a go for next week and we're absolutely still a go!
Their plant was on an off week so there was no strike there and there'll be no problem at all.
I also confirmed a rounded head count with her.

Herman and I did our own little tour at the car show at the Texas State Fair and yes, those are Chevy hats we're wearing? Dodge wasn't giving anything away free. Which reminds me?

Although the official "birth" date of the DOC is listed as March 17, 1998, the actual date was sometime in October 1997. We used March '98 because that's when the first "official" announcement of the formation of the DOC was made and it went public - after many months of start-up stuff. So, while you're quaffing a few at the plant tour this year, raise a glass to the 10th anniversary of this thing. One whole decade; amazing!!

For old timers, Herman Ascher will be remembered. For newbies, Herman was critical to the successful start-up of this thing and remained so for 3 or 4 years. Much of what the DOC is today is attributable to his efforts.

Hi everyone;

Time is slipping by wayyyyy too fast. It seems like just yesterday that the counter was installed, and it read 80+ days.

For me, looks like I'll head out around 0600 Thursday morning, and drive straight through which should get me into Newark around 4:00pm. After this Saturday, I have 11 days in a row off. (Yahoo!!)

On a sour note, my wife managed to back out of our garage on the 10th right into the front of my D. Body shop says ~$1k for the D, and ~$2k for her GCV. D goes in Monday, and supposed to be done Wednesday in time to leave Thursday.

I saw Indy's post saying that he's heading out Wednesday. That would be a more relaxing way to make the 600 mile trip driving just ~300 miles a day. It'd make an extra day in a hotel though which adds expense.

Hopefully the petrol prices will stay closer to $2.50/gal than $3 the next few weeks.

I'm looking forwrd very much to putting faces and names with the many folks who hang out here at the DOC.

As we all know, the fun part is piling in the car for the begining of the adventure, and the hard part is realizing that the trip has flown by and it's time to head for home.

BTW: I don't know if anyone is thinking of bringing any parts to swap, but I still have my NV233 Xfer case that I'd love to find a new home for. I have my eye on a new ham radio toy, and I can use the bucks.

Let me know if anyone can put it to good use.

Don

The road gods are against me. My D has gone and let me down. The front seal on my MS tranny has gone the way of the Dodo and needs to be replaced. Can't get it finished before I'd have to leave for Newark. I'm DISGUSTEDLY having to fly in. It must be a communist plot or something. To make matters worse, Karen is smiling gleefully, as she really didn't want me to be gone so long without her anyway. AARGHH.

I really don't want to toast a tranny trying to drive it with a bad seal. Finding someone on I-40 that could fix it and do it right would be next to impossible, and prohibitive time wise.

At least I'm trying for a Dodge product for a rental. That's what I'm being told I'm getting.

Hey sorry to hear about the troubles. If you need a lift from the airport, if there's one nearby, I could pick ya up if you want to save on the rental. I'm sure there's room to hop in with myself and various others. I'll be there midday Thurs but will be leaving Fri evening. Just throwing it out there!

At least I'm going to do a little sight seeing on this run. I fly into Baltimore and drive up, then drive to NC for awhile before flying out of Charlotte to come home. Lots of pretty country inbetween those 2 airports. It'll actually be cheaper to fly and rent a car for the entire time than to drive at 12.5 on premium fuel. lol.

Just checked the status of my D and its estimated ship day is 10/23 - so there'll be a chance it'll be in the factory when you're there. Keep your eyes out for a Black Limited - I'm sure it'll be the only one! ;)
Now that would be cool if it was being assembled and we could get some pics of it.

#246 ·
They won't let you take any pics inside by the line
We'll keep an eye out for it
Send one of us your last name in a PM if you don't want it public so we can check all the Black Limiteds we see on the line while we're walking thru

Good news / bad news - It won't have my name as it's a company vehicle. Look for Oldcastle or Eire Corp. Its a Black Limited with most features, except the sun roof. It'd be cool if you saw it. I'll let you know what the status reads before your tour. Maybe you can "sneak" a DOC sticker on it.
