You need fuel, compression, and spark for the engine to run. Initially, I think some of us thought the engine was not turning over at all, hence my comment re being locked up.

Do you know how to do the key dance to obtain codes?
Start with the ignition key at off. Rotate it quickly from off to run (not start) 3x in 5 seconds. You'll end up with it in Run. Observe the odometer display. If there are codes, you'll see them there. At the end, you'll see pdone.

did you buy it like this? or did the issue just start one day? was turning over slowly the original problem?
I'm thinking poor current to starter due to corrosion/loose connections. This could also cause problems with different modulars communicating with each other
You should get it scanned using a scan tool. Also if you could make a video and post it up would help alot. The more info you provide the quicker and more reliable the solutions would be.
