You started a thread 10 days ago regarding this issue, and received responses. I am confused as to why you would start another thread on the same issue? It's much easier to keep one thread going unless you have a completely different issue. We are here to help, but it really helps when comments on a common topic are kept together.

What relay are you jumping to get the AC compressor to engage? Re the AWD system, you may have a failing shift motor. Try a battery disconnect reset to see if that helps the AWD issue.

I was jumping the AC relay to engage the clutch on Ac . And i did try to disconnect the battery cables and left off for half hour .Did not reset anything . Also there no lights on the dash AWD or 4 high or 4low switch . And when the wife trys shifting the dash switch there no noise out of the shift motor .Thanks

It sounds like you may have a fuse or controller issue. When you do the disconnect, depress the brake pedal for 30 seconds, and the reconnect ant fire it up. No need to wait several minutes.
Are the backlights on the HVAC working when the headlights are on? If not, you may have a harness connector that has come loose. There are connections on the back of the controller, as well as the gauge cluster that provide power to the HVAC. The cluster in today's cars is quite involved in many operations, unlike the cars of 25 years ago.

Don this is what i did today . I took the -neg battery cable off & held the brake pedal down for 30 seconds & let it up & hook up the battery cable & started the durango . The SVC 4 wheel light came back on & stayed in high 4 wheel drive . Also the back light work like normal .I did check again the ETAX relay and the relay good . But my question i have power to 1 of the relay plugs I was thinking that i should have power to 2 of them ? I also removed the shift motor from transfer case without dropping the transfer case .There been folks saying you have to drop the transfer case to get the shift motor out on a AWD that not true i got her done . Now waiting for your advice how to check this shift motor out ok . Thank 4 your help you Buckeye from another Buckeye Marion Ohio i was born in .

Hi Terry:
Good for you in getting that SM out. I was thinking it could come out without dropping the case.
I don't know if the ground for that comes through it being bolted to the T case or not. If not, you may be able to have a helper move the dash switch around, and see if the motor moves. A plus here is that if you can get the T case back to AWD, you can leave it's harness unplugged, and it should stay put in AWD.

From what I recall, those SM's are way pricey IF you can find a new one. Many folks have gotten a good used one from a local pic a part, etc.

Hi Don .well so far i have not found the issue yet but i dont give up very easy . My buddy told me to take vise grips & turn the transfer case back to AWD place & then turn the shift motor to AWD place . Well i hate giving up on what caused it to go into 4x4 mode when i was not working on the AWD section . As i said i was trying to figure out why my AC clutch would not engage & really think its a ground issue with both AC & 4x4 issues . JFI thanks for your help

Terry:
Good luck! If nothing else, I once you get the TC back into AWD, reinstall the SM, and leave the harness to it disconnected. That way, it should remain in AWD.

Let us know how things work out.

Don

Any idea where the noise is coming from? Might be normal, or a concern.
