Well much like everyone else it seems I'm having problems with my transmission. I have a 1998 SLT 4x4 with the 5.2L and justs over 100K miles on it. First off before I forget, how do I tell exactly what transmission I have, I looked underneath and see no plate on the tranny to identify it? Now to the problem at hand. I just recently started having the problem where when I start out and am accelerating the rpms jump almost into the red band. I tried the Trans Tune by seafoam and then took it in for servicing. The place that services didn't do a full flush but they said they road tested it and found no electrical problems, dropped the pan, inspected and then replaced the filter and pan gasket and filled back up the fluid. Now much like everyone else they want to pull the tranny and inspect ($300) because they say there's a mechanical problem inside the tranny that's causing it to skip over second gear. They said there were no electrical problems. I need to go back and ask them if they adjusted the bands and to make sure they used ATF +3. I guess I'll take it to Autozone and get a computer check on it and probably go ahead and replace the overdrive sensor maybe? Any other suggestions at this point would be appreciated?
