I'm looking at a 15 Durango SXT AWD V6 8 spd, no discussions about the reason I am looking at this one in particular. Noticed it doesnt have a hitch. One from Dodge/Mopar is a 3500lb hitch, but there are aftermarket hitches that can tow 5-6000lbs.
My question is, does Dodge/Mopar say 3500lbs only, until you upgrade the alternator, and extra cooling, then it is 6000lbs?
Wouldn't need the towing right out of the gate. Would be when I save some money for a project car which weighs 3400lbs, plus open trailer of 1500-2000lbs. Would see interstate speeds so want to see if it would be able to be upgraded, which I've seen aftermarket trans coolers and such.
Much help appreciated.
EDIT: Also would need the rear leveling suspension? I've been looking through threads and seen that some have it already installed without the factory tow pack. Is there a way to find out if the vehicle I am looking at has it installed already? I do have access to the monroney sticker.
