I am an original owner of a 2005 Durango that came with the satellite radio system. We bought the lifetime subscription at the time, but not too many years later the signal started becoming intermittent. Having blown off the problem over the years, my wife asked if it could be fixed. My first question is the antenna itself, and after that it would be a good time to replace the radio, since it appears getting a harness to work with the factory wiring won't be a problem, let along fitting a replacement radio, with all the bells and whistles, into the funky dash cutout will also not be a problem. I guess my question for starters is a source for the rear roof antenna, itself?

Did you check the antenna connection at the satellite receiver? There is a small box (the receiver) just above the roof liner in the trunk area that the antenna plugs into. Make sure that everything is properly connected here. Be careful pulling the liner down, you can access the area without unfastening stuff if you are very careful, otherwise you could crease or otherwise damage the headliner.
