Guys I just found the forum searching for answers.
Wife has a 03 slt with a 4.7 and 86,000 miles. the last few months it has developed a searching idle(500-1000) or so.only seems bad when cold. it'll also try to keep pulling at idle in gear while surging with the brake on,and sometimes stall.
there are no check engine lights or codes stored. I have cleaned the throtle body and it ran fine for a month or so.Also did a coolant flush thinking a IAC problem could be the cause.
Today it started according to her, reving up from 2000 to about 2400 at 50mph with no acceleration. I have thought about a TPS but don't understand how that would be todays problem if related.
One thing I have seen is if I touch the throttle return spring I can create the searching, but I can bang on the other side of the throttle body and nothing?
I'm leaning towards the torque converter/tranny. But I hate to think of that expense.it has been dealer serviced since new.
Is the throttle plate on bushings that could be worn and have a false relation to the TPS voltage reading?
please bear with me she loves her truck and I'm tired of the harping about it.
