I already have it.

What do I use to fill them? (didn't know that even needed done.)

What other gotcha's are there?

What's the M1 install kit and where do I get one?

Know of a good online resource how-to? Otherwise, I'm ust ripping off the old and putting on a new. Doesn't sound quite right.

TIA!

Get the install kit from Dan Indy! He'll send you everything you need to do it.

Indy,

I submitted a "how-to" write up complete with pictures and wrench sizes. I think it went into an old newsletter. I'll see if I have it around here somewhere. I'm not sure though.

I thought the PPH install was pretty straight forward. It took me 3.5 hours to get the old manifolds out and the headers in. I was quite surprised at the ease of it. There was actually plenty of room to move the manifolds and headers around. I have a '99 Corvette that I paid a shop to install some headers, not much wiggle room in the engine compartment of a vette.

Mark,

It was very straight forward. I just had a ton of road blocks. Broken bolts, massive amounts of rusted pieces. It just seemed like once I got a groove on, something else would happen. I'm trying to locate the squeak now?it's not on the cross member, it's more forward. It looks like it's rubbing on the firewall right before the collector on the passenger side. I have a weird air sound too when I press the accelerator?it kinda sounds like the cold air intake sucking in air?but its on the passenger side also?kinda weird. I tightened everything down again today and it didn't solve any problems. The truck is running fine, just some minor issues.

Rod look for a loose vacuum line on passenger side of engine there's one I can think of from engine pics that can be the cause

Steve,

Thanks, I'll give it a once over and see what I can find.

Bring it all over to my house and we'll do it together. I pulled all of mine apart and sand blasted some pieces and painted them and even sort-of ported my heads and had no real problems. it's a good time to go in and do some painting and such on parts you wouldn't normally get to otherwise.

I ll come help as well
What day can we expect you Indy?

Indy the M-1 install is really easy; just a little messy.

Dan's M-1 install is sweet, it includes: intake manifold gaskets, waterpump to intake rubber hose, and the aluminum spacers needed to mount the fuel rails at the correct height. I think I paid $50 for it, but didn't need to make ONE trip to the parts store. First class install kit.

When you disconnect the t-stat housing, and when you pull the manifold off for that matter, you get a lot of coolant spilled into the lifter valley and thus the engine oil. What I do is get a small nylon hose and a bulb pump ($3 at a hardware store) and open the coolant blow off valve on the radiator hose from the intake to the radiator and suck as much coolant as you can from the intake side. The more you get out, the less spills when you remove the t-stat housing or the hose from the housing (whichever you prefer to do first).

You'll get some coolant into the lifter valley, so an oil change is mandatory after the install. It really is a 3-4 hour job, 2 if you've done it before. The biggest thing is removing all of the linkage to the TB, removal of the fuel rails, alternator bracketry and all of the other "stuff" bolted onto the manifold. Then its simply a matter of removing the manifold bolts and pulling the intake off. Reinstall is the exact reverse.

It's so simple that you can do it with a couple of barley pops in you?
