Well, I got it all finished and buttoned up. It sounded like a NASCAR race car when I turned the key. I didn't put the y-pipe in because of the true duals that I was gonna get. So I was running em straight out of the collectors. It shook the entire house!

So I drive it down to the muffler shop, they put it on the lift to see what was in store for them, and the owner walks in and tells me that it only has one cat. I said yeah, one cat so we'll have to put in another one and O2 sensors or whatever is needed. He proceeded to tell me that adding an extra cat is illegal and he can't do that! Nor can he run the second pipe out without running it through a cat. Thankfully, I brought the y-pipe with me, so we just installed that and welded everything up. He said to give him a couple of days and he'll see what he can come up with. He thought that the R/T had two cats and then ran through a dual in single out configuration? he hasn't worked on many Durangos apparently. Oh well, we'll see what he comes up with over the next few days? The guy does great work and I hope he can come up with something.

Has anyone picked up a squeaking on the passenger side with the headers installed??

I noticed the increase in torque right away!!

Check your clearances on the passanger side. It's real tight and the engine movement may cause some contact. I had Mike Leach (The guy who designed the Mopar PPH) do my install and from what I can recall it's ONE cat. I ran 3" out of the "Y" pipe all the way back to a Dual Exhaust muffler. When that muffler goes, I'll probably go with a single straight 3" all the way back. There really isn't a whole lot of room around that rear tire, and sometimes it rubs.

That's definitely something I need to look into. I need to go back under the truck and retighten everything, then I'll take a look and see exactly where it's rubbing. Overall, I love the performance gains?it matches nicely with my M1, TB and B & G.

Here comes that itch again, guess I need to get off my butt and install mine :D Glad your D is more happy now!

Hey Rob, I got a great idea! Come on over and help me with my headers, and I'll come your way for the M1/B&G install. plenty of beer and good eats here. Whacha think? :cheesy:

I think I agree with Dwayne?I'd much rather install 100 M1's than another PPH header set. Either that or I'm just getting too old to crawl around under the truck! :)

You're not too old, exhaust works sucks with a capital S. Exhaust is one thing, that I have always forked out cash to get done; just too many annoying things can go wrong. Every fastener gets rusted and requires a saw-zall or a torch.

Enjoy the benefits, good looking set of headers always make a motor look pretty!

Here's your quote from the past :naughty:

While removing the stock manifolds, the second bolt from the rear on the passenger side was broken at the head. Has been for a while based on the carbon blow by on the manifold and head. :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

There was absolutely no resistance when I turned the bolt head and then the obsenities flowed forth? I had trouble with 2 bolts, but worked them out and the dismantling continued without much of a hitch. I installed the drivers side without too much trouble although it'd have helped to have someone underneath to help so I didn't have to keep climbing under to move it and then go up top to adjust and back and forth? I trimmed the cat pipe and all of that so I ended the nightmare and went to bed as I didn't have an easy out. So this morning I headed to the hardware store for one and now I'm in a pickle. I don't have any drills short enough to reach the broken bolt at a right angle so I can't drill the hole? :wall:

Now what? Maybe a Milwaukee Right Angle drill? Of course it's the hardest one to get at so I can't go through the wheel well. ARGH! So much for being a walk in the park? This isn't a job for the faint of heart, that's for sure? I thought the M1 install was hard? I'd do that a 100 times over compared to this. Between the lack of clearance to tighten the header bolts and this broken bolt thing? it'd have been worth dropping it off somewhere to have it done?

hee hee hee

Nahhh?if you take your time, the M-1 install is pretty basic. It just takes patience, which I don't have!! I got it done in one day though?well?maybe two days.

Rod

It really is pretty straight forward. Just like any other manifold install.

So the M1 install was hard?

Not at all, time consuming yes, but not hard. Just be sure to fill the dowel holes at the ends that are there for the la motors, and take your time. the rest is relatively easy. Good opprotunity to swap out your valve covers if that's in your plans.

Here's a pic of my M1 dowel hole's filled.
