Rear Hatch won't open

Went to open the rear hatch on my 2000 Durango and no go! I made sure it's unlocked and even tried the key but still no go!

Any ideas on how to open the rear hatch now? If I could get it open, I can fix the problem.

Any suggestions welcome.

I used the key in the rear hatch to make sure it's unlocked. There's tension on the handle when I pull it, but it won't unlatch! I figure it slipped adjustment? if that makes sense? but I need to be able to access it to prove this.

hmmmm makes sense indeed. anyway, can you pop the handle cover off? I know the plastic on the inside of the hatch unscrews, but I don't know if you can do that when it's closed?

Try this?

This started happening to me a few weeks ago. Try pushing the hatch closed (either above or below the handle) and at the same time, lift the handle. Hope this works for you.

Couldn't sleep so went out to mess with it at 5:30 and it worked! I also found my beloved daughter who's 18 had shut the hatch on some items that were over the load line so it jammed the hatch. All is better now.

Thanks for the ideas guys!

God, no kidding?the whole sleep thing and the Durango!! I didn't sleep for three days with the PPH install!! LOL?

I'm glad you got that hatch open, it'd have kept me up too!!
