Just as long as you pay attention underneath. If she's being eaten away by rust and corrosion, why even bother.
I like to go over the underbody seams and panels w Rust-Oleum...
This is my dd, 8 years of PA winters with all the salt and brine used just kills the metal ..
doing pretty good so far, but you can only hold that shit off so long

Not only do I clean before I go, but I bring product with me on the road, lol. Luckily here on the west coast we almost never get rain from May to November, so its easy.

By the way, far too much winter talk in this thread.

Short trip, long trip, my dd stays clean all the time.

Why that? Is there no dirt on the roads in Wisconsin or dont you use your DD regularily as transport vehicle?

A propos Wisconsin - on my autodriveaway-trip in 1993 (13.000 km and 20 states in 20 days) I liked Wisconsin - because noone there gave a sh*t on speed limits.
Unfortunately I had on this tour only a 1986 Chevrolet Cavalier 😕
In which I had to fill thick oil before delivery to the customer, because after crossing Wisconsin in full-throttle-modus all engine-lights were flashing 🫢

BRO!!!! I keep my vehicles always shined up. A road trip doesn't change how I take care of them.
But to answer your questions YES I do and it's not a waste of time.

My cars are Ceramic coated and I put a topper on the front of the vehicle we are taking. This helps with bugs and grime as the clean up is amazingly easy when your protected.

I'm currently in the 'ole OCD mode and putting multiple coats of Chemical Guys "HydroBlitz Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax" on the DD in the garage. I think I like this stuff even more than the "HydroSpeed Ceramic Quick Detailer".

IMHO the former "HydroBlitz" product seems to dry/cure to a harder shell like coating. IMHO the latter, the "HydroSpeed" is awesome too but if I HAD to nitpick a dislike, it kinda drys and stays softer, and can be smudged.

Requisite pic of the "HydroBlitz" product that Ima doing the multi-coat thing with:

Can that be applied over a recently waxed car?

I "think" so - if I recall right I think I heard that that's fine in one of the promotional vids I was watching about it, put out by Chemical Guys. I mean, I put it on top of my wax, and it's crazy slick and shiny. But lemme do the ole YMMV disclaimer - I'm someone that takes mine through the auto car wash too LOL 😂

But really, after having put a couple or few coats on, we ran her HARD yesterday to the mountains and did some "spirited" highway driving back in the dark, and IMO it still looks stupid shiny and slick and luscious. And clean - she's still super clean too.

Got in yesterday evening after the 1,100 mile roundtrip to NC...there's a couple big bugs in there!
Gonna rinse them off tomorrow and shine her up!
I just use the old turtle 🐢 wax paste and sponge.

I put a couple coats of this on my Durango a few days ago. As luck would have it, driving to pick my wife up at the airport, and some dumbshit is mowing his lawn throwing all the wet clippings into the street. The car in front of me threw it up onto the front of my truck. The whole bumper and hood had wet clumpy clay filled grass. When i got home it wiped right off with a wet towel. This stuff is the shit.
