Like the title says, my 03 SXT auxiliary electric water pump had a pin size hole in the metal part and was spraying coolant when I got to work this morning.
The truck never maxed out on temp but was on its way. Did what little research I can do while at work, but I have 2 options essentially, buy and replace the pump or just bypass it (to my knowledge, I'm not a mechanic or a car dude so I dont know alot about them, I do not have rear HVAC as ther are no rear vents on the back of the console)
Basically what I'm asking is, can I permanently bypass the busted pump or should I bite the bullet and pay someone to fix and replace the pump for me (again, not a car guy and not mechanically inclined)
I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row before I leave work today so I can get a coworker to do the bypass for me.
Attached is a pic of part and circled is where failure/leak occurred. Ive searched the forums and seen a bypass can be done, i just want to make sure that's correct before I move on to fix it.
Thanks in advance, fellas!
