Hello everyone,
I'm gonna start out by saying owning a Charger Scat pack is an issue. How so you ask? Allow me to tell.

The Challenger and Charger Scat pack and above ( rarely a R/T) Hellcat variants etc all are on hit lists for high theft rates. They get stolen alot especially if you 1 drive it daily take it to the mall or out to diner or if you part your car outside your home.

I have heard countless stories of them being stolen , used for take overs and stripped for parts.

So that takes me to the SRT models of Durango. Am I also at high risk ? I plan on driving my SRT Durango way more than I did the Charger. My Charger, 2020 model year , I got brand new and only have 28k miles on it. I take it out for fun most of the time with little grocery runs or Mall parking. IF I take it to the mall , it's usually a quick stop at Boscovs to pick up underwear , socks etc so a quick in and out maybe 10 minutes in fear of coming out and not having my car anymore.

So Do the Durango's have a high theft rate? I haven't researched it at all yet but I also haven't heard of them being a target.

Talk to me.

Yes, you are at a higher risk.....the more valuable, the higher the risk, especially when Dodge does not have good security. I remember reading this thread, where his DDHC got stolen within just a few weeks of taking ownership. Since Stellantis does not care, there are a lot of things you can do on your own and many of them were mentioned in that thread including OBD port delete/move, the steering wheel club, lojack, faraday box, etc.

I think you are mostly safe if you have a garage at your house, use a faraday box, and don't park in bad neighborhoods. My DDHC is at 34K miles and 4yrs old now and have had no issues..knock on wood. Based on national theft statistics, the Durango isn't even in the top 10 for all but one state.

Its a nightmare alright, the DW didn’t want to spend the energy to do an extensive dealer search for a lighter color. I love the color but hate the fact it’ll be a “Nightmare” to keep clean and scratch free. I’ll post some pics later, after I give it its first bath.

There was news recently about a gang of thieves from Detroit who went to Warren, Michigan, and tried to steal half a mil in Durango SRT's last August. They basically totaled two of them trying to bash the HySecurity Strongarm gate which Would Not Give. Police arrived in time to see them bashing it. One of them was 24 and the rest were 16/17.

Yes anything with a HC face on it is a target...SRT as well....don't park overnight outside and don't park in same place everyday ....your consistency is the thieves opportunity..Have numerous countermeasures which are all well documented ad nauseum on line..

Here you go, it still needs a full detail, but rain is forecasted. View attachment 139194 View attachment 139194
Spell check got me LOL. Night Shade is what I tried to write . Anyway It's a nice color but year going to be tuff to take care of.
If you can get it ceramic coated by an actual professional , not the dealer , it will make life a bit better.
If you where in the Philadelphia area, I could get you taken care of.

These kind of stories I hate to read about. Think about the cost of a SRT Durango let alone a Hellcat Durango. Then think about someone taking it, and then wrecking it.

Anyway that story I hope they all go to jail for a very long time. I think if you steal a vehicle, you should do serious time .

I see you have a F8 HCD , sweet man. If I find a used low miles excellent example I will absolutely entertain it.

I have a 2023 DDRT and put in a cover on the transmission release handle, a cover on the OBD2 port, an ignition start button lock out and a TILE tracking device. I was also thinking of debadging it and putting on the ones for the 6 cylinder model. Lol

That's a lot just to keep your ride safe. Having to have to rebadge it just to prevent theft sucks.
Since I got the idea of coming back to Durango, and wanting a SRT since I already had a R/T , I keep thinking I'm gonna be in the same situation if I want to go anywhere and park it in a parking lot.
The Transmission release handle cover I assume it's the same one that they have for the Charger and Challengers? Where did you get the OBD2 cover?
