Is that the transfer case? Yes, you would need a shop to look at it.

Hello Kiefer:
Which engine is this, and how many miles on it? Are you seeing any appreciable drop in the oil level?

Its the 3.5 and it has around 135k. Its at the end of when I would change the oil, which i was about to do when I found this. After looking again, I believe the guy above was correct in it is the transfer case. Although it looks like dried oil all around it and possible dripping from above it. I just took a better pic.

Ok on the 3.6L engine. That engine is known to leak oil from in/around the oil cartridge unit that sits on top of the block but under the intake manifold.

As mentioned, the engine mounts are fluid filled, but I'd think that would present a bit further towards the front. If the oil filter unit is your source, it runs down and pools up on the block, then works it's way back towards the trans and down from there.

The coolant is purple, and the trans fluid is a watery green, so not likely to be either of those.

Re your comment on the low oil, pull the engine cover and look down around/beside the oil canister unit. If you see oil you have found your issue. A flashlight may be helpful.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked the filter and no apparent fresh oil around there. I did find something else from looking down under. I found some fresh oil from a leak, looks like somewhere where a gasket might be leaking.

The reason I thought the motor mount is if you look in post 6, first picture... Looks like oil coming from that mount.

I see what you mean. Good catch. I'm unsure of the orientation of what I'm looking at there though. If the mount is towards the top and to the slight right, I'd agree it may be leaking.

On the pic just above this post, that sensor in the valve cover is awful wet. It also appears that the bolt that holds it in place is missing.

I had taken the bolt off. I believe it is the VVT solenoid & the seal, at least I hope that's it. I'm getting a new VVT & seal right now, so fingers crossed this is it. Thank you for all your help.

It's definitely hard to tell with not being able to see it in person. If it weren't raining here I'd go look at my GT to try and match the picture up to the real thing.

As Don Fox stated the camshaft position sensor(CPS) is missing the hold bolt. There is also a gasket for the CPS which can cause leaks. Another culprit can be a defective positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve. If the PCV valve is bad, then you can it leaks in crazy places.
