Done. Was far from a 5 minute job but everything works like it would have if it left the factory with it...

Audio works through the main speakers IF playing on the head unit & can now control the disc up front too. Was it worth all the effort (around 25 hours to swap seats & decypher the wiring diagrams / pinouts & splice wires)? no. Would I do it again? no. Am I pleased I didn't admit defeat & now have some proper comfy seats again? yes

If anyone decides to tackle this in future, do not bother unless you get EVERYTHING from the same vehicle as a donor & very patient!

So recently bought my wife a 2019 R/T, and it came down to one the dealer had available at another location, or ordering from the factory with all the options we wanted. One of those options was the factory UConnect rear seat entertainment system. The dealer assured us they could add this after the sale, so we went with the already built one, which did have just about everything else we were looking for (though did settle on white paint instead of the Vice White).

Long story short, when we took the Durango in to have this installed, what we got back after 2 days was an aftermarket Audiovox system with less features, smaller screens, and attached to the headrests, not at all what we wanted or expected. It looks like something out of 2004 and doesn’t even have HDMI input, which one of the things we wanted to be able to do is hook up video games via HDMI on long trips.

Now, the question I have, if anyone knows, is it technically possible to install the factory system afterwards in a Durango that didn’t come from the factory with it? I realize that this likely involves swapping out the seats, wiring harnesses, etc. is it still technically possible? I’m trying to work with the dealer to get this worked out, but fully expect them to come back and say it can’t be done even though we financed it and they were emphatic that they COULD install this later, which affected our decision on doing a factory order.

Anyone have any experience with this type of thing?
I had the same issue of wanting the factory blu-ray player option. I would have purchased it at the time when the vehicle was specially ordered from the factory. I assumed the optical player was located in the dash. To my surprise it was not. After calling around and talking to different Dodge sources, I understand that the blu-ray/ DVD option has to come installed at the factory. The issue is the wire harness. As it was told to me by the Dodge dealer service supervisor. He explained that the wire harnesses are specific to what's inside the vehicle. If i wanted to add a video package, I would have to switch to the wire harness to allow for the blu-ray player to be connected. It would have been more practical for Dodge to make a sub harness so if later the owner wanted to add the player they could tap into the main harness. I'm still looking for the blu-ray package in a Durango that's not to used. So far I haven't come across any yet.

Dodge is not equal to practical thinking. You would think that the wiring in a vehicle would accommodate any option, installed or not, but this is not the case like it was in the 60's and 70's.

Hello guys, I bought my 2021 DD half a year ago without a controller. Now, with my new controller I saw that monitors in the back are not working. The one on the right has all (I think) harness and wires connected under the chair but the one on the left has not. There is a connector that should be connected to the central console but there is no wire for that (like on the right side).
Let me clarify, there is no harness that goes from central console to the left chair. Only on the right hand side it is... but both of them are not working. I do not see a purple IR light on the screen also.
Anyone has idea why and what to do in order to start them working?
