FSM does not mention a calibration when installing one.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION
During installation be certain not to touch or contaminate the optical lenses of the Light Rain Sensor Module (LRSM) or the glass through which the LRSM optics are focused. Contaminated optics will negatively impact LRSM performance.

Image

  1. Position the Light Rain Sensor Module (LRSM) (2) to the center of the mounting bracket (3) on the inside of the windshield near the inside rear view mirror.
  2. Depress both sides of the spring steel retaining strap on the LRSM simultaneously until the hooks of the strap engage the tabs of the mounting bracket on the windshield.
  3. Connect the wire harness connector (1) to the LRSM.
  4. Install the inside rear view mirror mounting bracket trim cover. (Refer to Body/Interior/MIRROR, Rearview - Installation).
  5. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.

Some more info about the sensor itself.

Concealed and protected within the LRSM housing is the electronic circuitry of the module, which includes two InfraRed (IR) diodes, two photocells and a microcontroller. The LRSM is a Local Interface Network (LIN) slave node and communicates over a single LIN bus circuit with the Body Control Module (BCM). The BCM is a LIN master node and a gateway to the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus. The BCM controls the exchange of electronic messages back and forth between the LRSM and other electronic modules in the vehicle.

The LRSM cannot be adjusted or repaired. If ineffective or damaged, the entire module must be replaced. The LRSM mounting bracket is serviced only as a unit with the windshield glass.

Thank you.what about the lane departure warning system?

Interesting, I found that on alfaobd there is an active diagnostic that can calibrate the rain sensor. Just ran across this helping a buddy find out why his star/stop button won't work on his 2010 challenger and found it in the RF Hub section of diagnositics. But on durangos it appears to only be for 2011-2013 years and +2014 years don't have this option available in the RF hub section.

However, there is a calibration for lane control.

So alfaobd can do the relearn?

I worked with Safelite and had to do these. Yes the recalibration has to be done even though it goes into the same spot on the new glass the new glass can have different clarities or imperfections the naked eye can’t see therefore the camera system has to relearn itself and it can be tricky sometimes stuff can come up during it so if you’re just trying to save a little bit of money or time but not having it done by the company replacing the windshield I wouldn’t go that route I’d just let them do it.

As far as the rain sensor you don’t want to use the old gel pad they get supplied with new ones and put new gel on it as well if you use the old one it can become cloudy, ripped, etc any number of things then it will not work or won’t work properly and it looks bad. So again I’d have that done as well. Sometimes when they take them off there’s no way to reuse it and if you tell them too it could again not work then you’re just back in there complaining to them and taking more time out.

Nice! Ordered my Bluetooth module today and will download Alphaobd when I get it. We have a 21 Durango, 17 Ram, and 12 Charger. We will get some good use out of it.

Is there a hidden pedal press/key on-off/ask pretty-please trick to reset/recal/adapt/whatever the LRSM? Just had my windshield replaced today and every time I start the vehicle, the wipers make one swipe and that's it. Pointed it out to SafeLite tech and he said that he thought it was a glitch and nothing he can do from a technical side... Per Duh-rango AlfaOBD is a no-go on '14+, and I have a '15 DRT.
