Hi DD.Net Forum Users,

I am new here and have owned a 2023 Dodge Durango SXT Launch Edition at 13k miles since May 2023. In November 2023, I have experienced this engine noises (hizzing/whistling/whining/tick/etc) during idle.
Help Needed - Please feel free to publicly comment on what you hear about this engine noise. Normal or Abnormal noise at idle? Please further explain the theory behind it and I do appreciate your comment and feedback. Thank you for checking out the videos! I'm looking forward to hearing from you and what would be the next steps are?

Jake:
You are still under warranty correct?
Take it to the dealer. Might have an internal as well as an external issue.

They are 100% full of you know what! My '20 SXT with the 3.6L does not sound like that at 38+k. At minimum, it sounds to me like you have a serp belt related chirp, possibly from an idler pulley or tensioner on its way out.

Try this. Carefully remove the serp belt, then fire it up for a minute or two. See if those offending sounds change or go away. Don't run it too long though, as the water pump won't be working while you do this test.

Report back what you find please.

Sound like maybe a cracked intake to me. Ticking sound plus vacuum leak sound together.

Is this a crack across the top? The ticking seems to get louder when the camera is closest to this.

Hello everyone,
New here and new owner of 2023 GT Plus with 14k miles . Reading about the ticking made phobic about my engine. I don’t know if it is normal engine ticking or not. I will try post video next.

Sounds normal to me, however my 2017 GT will make a ticking sound and rush of air sound when the evap purge solenoid kicks on. Faint ticking is the injectors actuating. BTW the tap you hear is my #5 cylinder intake cam lobe and rocker nearest the firewall.

Now if you hear this noise...you definitely have a bad cam lobe and rocker.
