Hi, I have a 2011 Durango Citadel 5.7 AWD, I got a year ago, and just starting to fix it back up. It has 112k miles and is running great. It has a kind of bouncy shudder on take off from a dead stop. Most other cars that I felt this happen ending up being Drive Axels, but they were mostly FWD cars.

I googled to try and see about this problem in a Durango. Closest thing I could find that was not major was something about a Motor mount? Anyone had this problem and may know what it is? Thanks.

Anything "bouncy" is shock related. You can check your motor mounts though. If it looks like liquid is leaking from them then they are bad. If the motor rises up noticeably when you rev it then they need to be done.

So it's not a bouncy going up/down, but a bouncy going forward shudder like transition when from a dead stop take off. A acceleration bounce shudder. There is no noise or jerk just a smooth shudder bounce is best I can describe. Last about 1 - 3 sec before it smooths out and stops?

Take a look at the rear driveshaft center bearing. If you see signs of wear, play, etc, time for a new one.

Thanks. If that's what it is. Is this the part I would need to replace?

Correct:
I cannot vouch for the quality (or lack of it) for this option, but if your oem bearing is bad, it should be replaced.

That's the recommended fix for it if you don't want to pay $1000 for a new driveshaft. The bearing usually doesn't go bad, it's the carrier that fails.

Thanks to both. I ordered them. Going to get up under there and see what mine look like. It's def the vibration feels like that's where it coming from in the rear. If so, I will replace them this weekend and post back the results.

So I replaced the driveshaft center bearing. The problem reduced some but did not completely go away and I remembered I have a slight clunk also. I was reading that it could also be the round rubber cushion also, but I think I am just going to go with a complete replacement aftermarket complete new drive shaft.

The Durango I have is a 2011 dodge Durango citadel 5.7 AWD with the factory Tow package. The aftermarket ones I looked at showed a 195 mm 215mm and 230 mm Rear Drive Shaft Axles. From looking up my model it's not very clear but i think I have the 230mm one. Does anyone know if this is correct? Thanks.
