While the rental car option would be good, they won't let you tow unless you specifically went to an Enterprise Rent-A-Truck location. They have pickups for this.

Second, if you have time and a service dept. is available, you can get them to do the ECM lock so it can only stay programmed to your current keys. Downside is that if you lose one or one goes bad, you have to replace the ECM. However, it's a nice failsafe. @Vice-White should have more info about this.

Hello,

Im going to be taking a road trip soon in my 2022 Durango SRT 392. Unfortunately, Ive got no choice but to stay at least 1 night in a bit of a rough area.

Leaving the Durango parked in a hotel parking lot overnight makes me nervous, doubly so with the area being less than ideal.

Which would be the best fuse to pull before i go to bed that would make the vehicle more difficult, if not impossible to steal - without screwing anything up with the vehicle's computer?

I was thinking i'd pull the fuse for the fuel pump before going to bed, but wanted to see if anybody had any better suggestions/cautions.

Thanks View attachment 137677 View attachment 137678
Bring a 357 with your 392.

Be smart about it. Don’t leave valuables in the car. Park it close to the hotel building if possible and under a light. Hide a tracker like an AirTag on the car, just in case. Make sure you have wheel locks on the car. A loud audible car alarm might be good to have as well. you can only do so much. Rest easy, pray, and have faith it’ll be there in the morning. Not all places are as bad as they seem. It’s great to have a nice car, but if you can’t drive it anywhere without fearing it will be stolen, then why have it? BTW, I go through the same thing each year traveling between FL and NY. I love my DD, but there are usually one or more other cars in the parking lot that are just as nice, if not more expensive and also theft targets.

Of course it's forbidden in Germany.

But it would be fun anyways, to go with it to the TĂśV for demonstration to get this gimmick officially registrated in the papers.

Or with such a car, asking for the inspection sticker.

No reason for being nasty - in a Peugeot 504 Break in such condition I had the greatest taxi ride in my life, in 2001 in Cairo.

And once I had to drive a loaned VW T3 Transporter as at 6:15

I purchased and use daily a top rated steering /brake club. It's made of hardened steel has 3 really weird keys that you cannot have duplicated. If you lose the keys you will need a good locksmith. Made by Tevlaphee and sold on Amazon for about $60.00.
Don't know if it works but I use it daily and hope it makes a basic crook think twice. Professional crooks will just flat bed the vehicle away like they did my sisters Porsche in LAX airport parking.
I had a fuel pump kill switch and it was fantastic for 4 years until the switch died at 75MPH on a highway in the middle of nowhere. I coasted to the shoulder and was able to jump the switch for a temporary fix. Thank goodness I'm an ex-auto mechanic and had a knife. I never want that experience again.
BTW... it happened to me twice with 2 different switches. Switches just aren't made well any more and can't be trusted. I have used airplane 10 or 15 amp circuit breakers with success but they are large and not easily hidden.
Good luck!

I haven't kept up with the times and live somewhere that auto theft isn't a concern. Have 'The Club' type products gotten to where they are not easily defeated by sawzalling through the steering wheel?

Apparently with a better brand than The Club that puts a force field around the steering wheel.

I’ve used travelbusinessclass.com a few times and had a good experience booking last-minute flights for decent prices. They helped me get business class seats cheaper than I expected, especially for international long-hauls. If you're setting up things before your trip and want a bit more comfort without paying crazy prices, it’s worth checking out.

I always bring a paper map just in case signal drops out in the middle of nowhere. Also double-check your spare tire and tools—saved me once on a long trip.
I have always kept a hard copy (printed) map in our cars as a backup. I have had to use them multiple times. This is my favorite brand map as it shows all of the little roads as well for the entire state of your choosing.
