Hello, I'm looking to purchase a Durango RT and found a few 2024's near me. I went and test drove a 2024 RWD RT Premium. The asking price on the website was $51,700. Sticker was 62K. The vehicle has been on their lot since April. They came back with a OTD price of over $55k.

They tacked on 1K in dealer accessories which is a 1 year tire warranty, 3m interior treatment and VIP treatment. These are all of course BS upcharge fee's. They also have a $1k DOC fee added.

I offered them 50K OTD the door which I think is reasonable for a 2024 leftover that has been sitting on their lot for 9 months. They came back and said the best they could do was take a few hundred dollars off.

Is my thinking on pricing way off or are these dealers just completely unreasonable?

Total scam. $1000 doc fee? Outrageous. Find another dealer that won't tack on BS crap.

You can now see how f'ing stupid dealers are. They are still pulling every cent they can out of a consumer and YOU GET NOTHING for it. This is why dealers have 23 Challengers and Chargers on their lots, Hornets on their lots and Durangos on their lots. Dodge is going to die or be sold pretty quickly (by 3rd quarter 2025) so I would think twice about buying a Stellantis product. Their dealer network will never change. My dealer scuttle but is looking to sell the Dodge/Ram dealership in a couple of years but that could be supercharged if Stellantis pukes.

Yes, I was shocked when they only offered $500 off and let me walk. So stupid when they would not even remove the "Dealer Accessories" that is pure profit and nobody wants. Those should have been removed last May when the vehicle had been on the lot for 60 days.

Don't forget window etching, catalytic converter etching, nitrogen filled tires, estimated DMV fees and the all loving DOC FEE. Dodge dealers in NJ charge $1000 DOC FEE which is god damn insane. You are paying them for doing business with you when you pay it. I attack that after I get a good offer from them, then I say, before I take that deal you need to knock another 1K off because that will be the credit for the insane DOC fee. I get booted most times but then I find a dealer that does not give a shit due to super mongo volume and I get what I want. Then I take it to my local Dodge dealer fro warranty and service work

I remember in the early 80’s my Father went to buy a brand new Chrysler New Yorker. The dealer was pushing a chassis coating already on the car which my Father didn’t want and refused to pay for it (My Dad custom ordered the car specifically without it since we live in FL). So my Father went across the street to a ACE Hardware and bought a $1.00 spatula. He placed it on the salesman desk and said “scrape off the under coating” or I will go to Mercury down the street. My Dad drove the New Yorker home with the undercoating listed on the bill of sale as “N/C customer satisfaction”... Lol

What I don't understand is they are acting like these are selling the second they are loaded off the truck. I mean it has been sitting on the lot for 9 months and the "best" they can do is $500 off.
Terrible.

Does anyone have an idea on what I should be paying for a 2024 Black RWD RT Premium with the Blacktop package? As I mentioned when I started this tread the MSRP was $62,555. They wanted $55,500 OTD with my sales tax being 3 percent and with title, registration so they are basically wanting $53,500 for the vehicle. They are only coming down a few hundred dollars from the $55,500 price.

Everything I have been reading is you should be at least 10% off MSRP. That is NOT including all of the factory rebates, the 10% is from the DEALER. Plus tax tile license. I have been thinking about it too, but really don’t need it. I have also been seeing that dodge will be lowering the MSRP by 25-30% for 2025. If that comes to be true, the might be some real good deals on the “Lot rot.” Good luck!

Your $50K OTD price would be exactly what I would offer. The doc fees are bs fees the dealers are allowed to add on just to do the paperwork they are supposed to do (it's like a tip to do their job).

There is no reason to spend $55K on a '24 model when the '25 are out.

Tell them you're going to keep looking. They put low cost upgrades on at a high price trying to get money from vehicles that aren't selling.

A little update to this. I found another RT I was interested in at a different dealer 2 hours away. My wife and I went down there and test drove it with a salesperson and also met the manager there. It was a RT Plus and not the Premium so I was undecided if I wanted the Plus. We left and after I got home decided I would be happy with the Plus. I made an offer and they responded back that to be taken seriously I would have to make the offer sitting in the dealer. I told them that my wife and I driving 2 hours to see a vehicle shows we are serious, and when meeting them they knew we had driven 2 hours to see it. They then came back with a price $1,000 higher than listed on the website and also added $999 in dealer installed options and a $899 DOC fee. They would not budge from this price and this vehicle had been on their lot since last March. We then went out for dinner and next door was a Ford Dealership. I test drove a 2025 fully loaded Explorer ST with the 400 HP V6. Was faster than the Durango and came with the latest tech in camera's, Blue Cruise, etc and the MSRP was less than the Durango. These are selling in a few weeks and they were offering more off then the Dodge dealer and worked to earn my business. Bottom line is a drove home a new Ford Explorer ST and not a Durango since Dodge did everything thing they could to not make me not buy a vehicle from them. This will probably be my last post here since as much as I tried it seems I will never own a Dodge product.

Good luck and congratulations on the Explorer deal you got. Hopefully you are happy with it for a long time.

They didn't seem to care. I had received a text from the salesperson at the first dealer a few days after they give me a price. It was not them trying to lower the price but it was him asking if anything changed on my end. In that conversation he said the price on their end would not be changing.

Go in this week, before 1 January, and deal with them and remind them of the carryover taxes if the vehicle is still on the lot after midnight 1 January.
