Yesterday I put reverse and before the backup turned on, the screen turned black and never came back until I turned the car off for several minutes. So, I still love UConnect surprising me... Cheers!
I filed a report with NHSTA about that. That’s a recall level issue imho. The backup camera is supposed to work, ford has a stop sale on the Explorer over a similar issue.
 
I have a 2021 Dodge Durango R/T. Similar message started appearing. Took it to my local dealership, they kept it overnight and basically just did a reset. Still displaying the message. I can press OK and it is fine for a while, but at some point reappears and I have to select ok again.
1st: Complain to the GM of your dealership that they had it overnight for something that takes 30 seconds to do.
2nd: There are TSB (technical Service Bulletins) on this issue and depending on your build date, it is either replace the unit or upgrade the firmware. I would say yours is upgrade the firmware since resetting your radio fixed it.
3rd: Check the version of software your readio is running as it may also need an update.

Same same for a year now. Have it at the dealer now show some pics of someone that put over here and show it to them. They haven't started worked on it yet. I will update.

I think we have to live with that. Since yesterday and today, this has came out 9 times after more than 5-6 months. So… welcome to the android/Uconnect world!
 
Well guys, like I said I will update. What do u think??..yeap that's right same shit...!..Got a message, Car ready, needed some kind of calibration and they perform a radio flash update. What a joke. RIGHT AT THE SPOT MESSAGE POPED OUT!..They brought the mechanic again...he did a reset. I said to him I have done that multiple times. So history short. The clerk came and told me they don't have a solution for that, that I need to call Chrysler Factory ; and they are told, they can replace anything for that problem. So I called Chrysler opened a case and told me to call Uconnect that I have a case already. I called Uconnect and told them everything what happened. Said they are going to call me. Still waiting!! A complete disaster at the dealer, had it for like 5 days, they brought it Dirty as F...after the first 2 days I had to called them That I needed a loaner, didn't even offered me one when I left the car. Everything was horrible. I'm losing all hopes. They don't know how to fix this and they even want to try I think!..I don't know if they even checked the wiring and the TBM like I told them. I had to pay 50 to wash the car after that. Just wait till warranty expires and hope they will have a fix for this and we will have to pay!...Error poping out Right and Left everytime!!
 
Did they actually check for good cable connections at the back of the radio? You can check that yourself I believe by removing the glove box or taking the radio out as shown above.

At the beginning when I bought it, I brought it for the annoying ticking noise, after 7 days paying for an rental car (+$600) they told me couldn’t hear nothing, if the noise gets worse comeback and we will see. It’s a shame!

this is not only Dodge. I went to my Ford dealer because my Shelby module was making a ghosting thing in the sync system. Well, they told me to go home and they will let me know when the part arrives. After calling couple times without luck because they always put you in an eternal wait, one day one guy says: “you should have came in two days when you brought it, the tech guy told you that” Never happened that! That guy told me that probably in 4 months, because those modules were in backorder. Well, my factory warranty have ended weeks ago, and they had returned the part. I call the manager and I have to take again my car “for inspection” to order the part again, this time with my extended warranty but without having to pay deductible. They play always with you, you have to see how bad they talk with customers! Man, we pay their salaries. What wrong with this people? You feel like they are doing a favor or they really think this is a favor?

nope..Im not so good at these things but Im gonna try. I don't want to break anything also because of the warranty too, and they should have done that I don't know if they did.
 
If this was brought in under the initial warranty period, it should be documented and covered under the initial warranty. They do that all the time. You should see it noted your ticket from the first trip(s) into the dealer.

They returned the part without letting me know it was arrived. I could put a claim to Ford but the manager told me they will go with the extended warranty and they will pay the $100 in deductible. So, I was good. But they need to inspect again the car because they will do it with a different warranty.
 
My dealer said it’s an issue with uconnect and not something they can fix. They said that unconnect wants you to go to a parking lot and and do something silly like drive in circles for 19 minutes to recalibrate. I held down the power button and did a hard reset and have not seen the error message come back
Um, if that's the fix, then Dodge can pay my dealership to drive in circles for 19 minutes. If it's under warranty, we shouldn't have to do a thing.
 
I wouldn't believe them at all. There has only been one update for the '21s that doesn't fix Uconnect connection issues. Those have almost exclusively been caused by bad cable connections, a bad antenna cable or a bad antenna. The modem box behind the radio can also be bypassed.

Yep we have not had a software update for the radio since November of 2021. The only update coming is for the backup camera recall and the Uconnect box software update they keep claiming “is coming” is 6+ months old now and won’t update if the cable connections are bad. You will die of old age before that issue fixes itself by update. Dodge is horribly inept and its dealer network is somehow worse. 🤦‍♂️
 
Anyone have a similar issue with the Uconnect System?
I received this error message on the screen when I started my 2021 Durango RT on 2/12/21. "Uconnect Box Error" - "Battery of Uconnect box requires service. SOS Call and related functions may be unavailable. Please visit an authorized dealer." I closed it out and now it's been three days and hasn't popped up again. Everything seems to be working fine and didn't want to run to the dealership just yet.

This is very common and still an ongoing issue as of 3/6/25. I posted the following in another thread.

I have a '21 Durango RT. I just called a 1-800 number for Stellantis. I was told they are aware of this problem in Dodge vehicles and Alfa Romeos. There is a pending update to fix the error message issue. Meanwhile, I was told to press the SOS button. If the representative knows your location, you don't have a hardware issue and you have to wait for the over the air software update. There is no timeline for the update release. I also received a recent update at the dealership for safety recall 66B. It updates your radio and rear camera.

Your problem is the cables from the radio to the Telematics box or from the box to the sharkfin antenna.
