I need help trying to figure out what is making this sound. I own a 2023 Durango RT Plus and the dealer just finished replacing my entire dashboard due to a factory defect. I rejected it the first time they tried to return it to me due to a rattle on the passenger top side. I tap tested the dash to make sure nothing was loose. Two days later they finish the replacement and found a loose bolt.
I did a test drive and now I hear what sounds like a fan hitting something when I accelerate. The more I step on the gas the more I hear the sound. I only hear the sound when in drive. I don't hear it when in park. I listened in the engine area and underneath and nothing. I also made sure the AC was off. It seems more prominent on the drivers side but the passenger can hear it also. Is there something behind the dash that might be causing this? I plan to take it back to the dealer but I want to have an idea on what it might be.

I don't think its an exhaust issue as I had an AWE one installed for over two weeks and it never made this sound.

If it only happens in drive, and while accelerating, make sure the sound is not coming from outside the vehicle. If you are sure it is inside the vehicle see if it does it while accelerating in reverse. If it is only forward movement acceleration, that gravity may be moving a loose fan blade into something else. There are at least two of them I believe.

Maybe you're hearing engine sounds through the open cabin air inlet under the hood that only opens for fresh air and while the engine is running. It can be seen on the firewall just in front of the passenger seat. Maybe they didn't re-seat the filter correctly, or at all.

Hard to tell without being there...sounds like engine/exhaust noise to me. If not there before, maybe some sound insulation left out or not properly installed? Or its not the dash install and something else in the engine compartment.

I had my wife's 21 JGC dash replaced because the leather was bubbling and lifting. unbelievable; the dealer did a perfect job and it has been 1.5 years without a rattle or noise.

That sound on your video sounds like there is a large opening behind the dash through your firewall but I doubt that, it just sounds like it.

That's why I suspect it has to do with the cabin air intake in the firewall. And I didn't even listen to the video.

I'm still looking around. When I get the downtime I will make an appointment with the dealer. As far as the Cabin Air Filter. It's installed and the intake is closed. I'm starting to think that it wasn't due to the dash install and just a coincidence that it is happening.

Looks like the cause of the sound has been found. When they put my dash back together they forgot a bushing between the firewall and the steering column which was allowing engine noise in.
During automotive or aerospace repairs, having extra parts after completion is probably not a good thing. Glad it was not a safety issue. Imagine a Boeing 787 with 2.3 million parts.
