I'm dealing with a very annoying creaking noise when I go over bumps. I don't know what's causing it would anyone here know? Noise is around the front passenger area. And it'll happen if I push on that side of the car. I have a video but it's not letting me upload it.

HB8846:

Welcome to DDN. You cannot upload a video here. It must be put on a host site like youtube, then you post a link here to it. Your noise is probably a worn or dry suspension part. The sway bar bushings/links or upper/lower control arm bushings are good candidates here. You can take some WD40 or similar, and treat each area one at a time. When the noise changes or goes away, you have your culprit.

On my old DD, it was the tie rod. It was making this loud creaking noise on road bumps or potholes. Eventually, the outer tie rod failed by separating from the ball joint as I pulled into my driveway.
If your outer tie rods are grease-able, apply a few pumps into it. That might help lubricate it.

I've encountered this issue before; it's certainly related to a suspension component.
On one of my Durangos. Previously, it was the lower ball joint, and on another Durango, it was the ball joint on the upper control arm, which required replacing the entire upper control arm but not hard to do.
the squeaking is because it has no grease after awhile it will start to clunk, Most likely the boot is cracked which should help you find the culprit.
Water is getting in there and washed out the greass,
On a side note you'll notice it'll go away temporarily when it rains.

Is the noise coming from the front or back? I assume front...

There's 4 components that can potentially make that sound.

1. Lower Ball Joints / Kind of a pain to change DIY because you'll need an impact and special tools for pushing old Ball Joints out of the control arm and new ones in.

2. Sway bar linkages / These connect the sway bar to the control arm. Not hard to replace. Very likely the sound you're hearing is coming from these.

3 + 4. The inner and outer tie rods / The inner tie rod officially requires a special tool to remove/replace but on a Durango you can do it with a pipe wrench. The outer tie rod is easy to install but requires setting the nut correctly or your steering will pull to one side or the other.

If you want to just throw money at parts replace the sway bar linkages first. Most Likely these are the ones causing your issue. However keep in mind that you'll likely need to replace the ball joints asap because they're also likely going bad.

I would call that good luck, Graman! Imagine if it had happened on the freeway! You mean your wheel just totally separated from the steering rack? Man, and you didn't even need a tow truck cause it was at home!

Has it been jacked up lately? There is a triangle support that in the front that will cause that noise if it gets bent by using it as a vehicle jack point. There is a big thread on here about it, it has been discussed at length on there.

Shelby, that part is only on the Gen 3 versions.

Lucky it certainly was. I upgraded it to the 16mm version in my current DD when I recently changed all the suspension/steering parts.
