As of right now I am just looking to upgrade my front brakes only on my '14 Limited V6 - from the 330mm V6 setup to the HD 350mm V8 setup.

Unfortunately unlike the '11-13 models, +'14 Limited V6 did not get the HD V8 brakes even when your ordered the factory tow package, while the +'14 Citadel V6 got the HD V8 brakes no matter if it had the factory tow package or not. Brilliant! Go figure?

Not sure if this has been documented before or not, but...

In researching the pieces/parts needed for this front brake upgrade only, I seem to have found the following;

Both V6 & V8 front calipers are the same - both have the 4865 LH and 4866 RH markings on the calipers
V6 caliper mounting brackets have the 0315 marking
V8 caliper mounting brackets have the 0317 marking
V6 rotor is 330mm, while the V8 rotor is 350mm

Of course if the calipers have seen better days, then replacing them only makes sense since they sell remanufactured calipers with the mounting brackets for around $76 each plus a $35 core charge.

Now the pads are a different story, Some vendors say that the front pads are the same for both the 330mm V6 and 350mm V8 rotor setups, while others have two different p/n's for the V6 and V8 pads. Aftermarket front pads with "1455" in their part number seem to be for the 330mm V6 setup (lighter color gray in the photos), while aftermarket front pads with "1629" in their part number seem to be for the HD 350mm V8 setup (darker color gray in the photos). I am still trying to track down the DOT pad reference numbers and/or the Mopar p/n's for the pads. If there truly are two different pads, I am would have to presume the only difference is the swept width of the friction material and backing plate with the true V8 pad being slightly wider (or taller if you will) that would correspond to the larger diameter 350mm V8 rotor and/or the included anchor clips with the pads could be different to match up with the different mounting brackets?

What does all this mean you ask? Well all you really need to do the upgrade from the V6 330mm front brakes to the HD 350mm V8 front brakes is a pair of the 0317 V8 caliper mounting brackets, the larger 350mm rotors and a fresh set of "1629" pads. If the calipers are in good working order you don't even need to open the hydraulic system expect of course to do the highly recommended flush out and bleed the old fluid.

More digging has turned up these OEM p/n's for the front caliper mounting brackets;

#68138844AA is V6 caliper mounting brackets with the 0315 marking

#68052372AA is V8 caliper mounting brackets with the 0317 marking

Its only been 7 weeks since I rounded up all the parts, so I finally found the time to get them installed yesterday. Initial impression is that that every single V6 Durango built should have come from the factory with the HD V8 brakes. Its not a huge dramatic improvement (other than visually filling out the 20" rims better), but it does require slightly less pedal pressure to get the job done. The extra thermal capacity will come in handy when towing and during repeated frequent use or when on hilly terrain. I selected Aekebono HD premium ceramic pads in the slightly larger V8 size. Just for the record at 55.5K miles the factory pads had about 15K miles left on them - I didn't mic the factory rotor thickness. I also flushed the m/c and front lines with Valvoline synthetic DOT 3/4 fluid and removed, cleaned and re-greased the caliper slider pins. Because a thread is useless without a photo - yes the wheels are filthy, sorry about that.

Looks good. I am going to be in the market for new brakes on my 15 and this does not sound like a bad option. I was going to ask exactly what was needed but your post sums is up great.

I do have a have a question you may or may not be able to answer. Do you know what size wheels are needed to clear the larger setup? My Limitied has 18" wheels.

Factory Durango or JCG 18" are fine. The Limited V8 came from the factory with either 18" or 20" rims.

I'm not sure if anyone here is interested, but I have a used complete HD brake setup that I took off of my '11 R/T (calipers, pads, rotors) available for someone looking to upgrade to HD brakes. I'd have to check, but I think they only have 35K miles on them. I upgraded to the Brembo calipers last year and have been storing the old parts in my garage. You'd have to check to make sure these parts would fit the 2014+ models. New spindles might be required.

I also have OEM 20x8 satin finished R/T wheels that have been plastidipped black. They are in boxes, also being stored in my garage.

I'm in San Diego and it would not be feasible to ship them. But if you're local and want them PM me. Price is negotiable.

Thanks for this thread, I ordered 350’s by mistake and used info and ordered the brackets. They worked great and no problems with stock 18 in rims

Note: if you have a 2013 Durango V6 Citadel with the towing package your front rotors are 350mm not 330! Many places including Detroit Axle does not know that as I ordered twice from them and they sent the wrong ones.

Another note; if anyone is looking for a set of RT brakes, I have a complete set I will sell.

Did any of you have a clunking sound when you stop or go in reverse and stop after install?

I noticed that if you stop quick or or back up fast and stop it has like a clunking noise.

Sort of a update here. I noticed some issues with the front brakes recently and traced it to the factory original calipers which have 125.6K miles on them now. Fresh everything (calipers, mounting brackets, pads, hardware and hoses) all from Raybestos via RockAuto, along with a flush using Valvoline DOT 4 fluid got everything back to as good as new.

Good choice on replacing the old stuff. It looks horrible - leaking, rusty, only part of a braking pattern.

What appears to be a fluid leak, was actually due to removing the old hose. I needed the old banjo bolt, as it was missing from one of the caliper hardware kits from Raybestos. The problem I believe was a frozen piston in that particular caliper. I really didn't diagnose the problem, because everything was headed to the trash bin anyways.
