My 2011 Citadel ran out of fuel (oops). When I refilled, it just cranked with no start. Come to find out a bypass was already installed. Guessing by previous owner. Checked 20A fuse and it was popped. Replaced it, drove 3-4mins and popped again. Any idea what could be causing this?

The bypass has a remote relay on it. Change that relay. People who have this former Dodge repair keep one in the car as a spare. If that doesn't fix it you might need a fuel pump.

So when the dealership performed the relay recall on my JGC I discovered that the bypass relay they installed failed in less than 2 years. But I never had a fuse fail. I wonder if the pump is starting to crap out? However if the contacts on the relay are bad they can cause more current draw which could be why your fuse is blowing. I actually undid the bypass and removed the TIPM board and installed new/upgraded solderable relays. I did this because I had other relays starting to fail and figured I would fix those as well.

So challengers/chargers had a bad connector that would burnout...not sure if durangos of that year had a similar issue? This led to a TSB with a new wire harness.
I’ll look at that connector. Picked up a pump from the dealer so I’ll definitely check that out before putting everything back together.

Good to hear. Hopefully the new pump fixes your issue. I'm surprised you didn't complain about having to drop the tank to do this job. Most people don't find that out until they have to change the pump.

Well depending how much gas is in the tank, might not be a bad idea to drop it anyways...otherwise you need to make a tool to pump fuel from the injector supply line as you can't siphon from the fuel filler. I have swapped a fuel pump on a challenger and all those fumes in the cabin (even with windows down, fan blowing and outside) make for a high pucker factor.
