I've been shopping for a new Durango for the last week to Replace my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7L.

When comparing the 2024 and the 2023 I noticed that they have completely removed the fog lamps on all trims of the 2024 R/T . To justify the removal of the foglamps, it looks like they added $1,000 to $2000 to the base price. I know the ones on my Grand Cherokee are almost useless but unsure on this vehicle.

I also noticed from my Jeep GC, they replaced the tach with a speedometer. I have no idea why they did that but I wish it was a still a tach for so you know when to shift when towing. The jeep's transmission programming is useless in normal mode when towing. There's no tow mode so I end up paddle shiffting it. Hopefully the TnG tow mode actually works.

Any other disadvantages to the 2024?

First Impressions of the standard Durango R/T seems like the suspension and steering are close. Just a tad bit firmer. The TnG seems a little firmer than the R/T but not harsh. It handles better. I also drove some Jeep GCs. The only way to get the Hemi in the new Jeep GC is with air ride suspension in the Overland and above. I wasn't impressed with the way the car handled and felt. I'm sure someone likes it but not me. I also drove a Tahoe. Tahoe is so disconnected with the driver. I cant drive that. It's out.

As for seating, the standard leather seats seem the same as my GC. The suede seemed better? but they are not available in a bench seat. Wife likes the idea of the 7 person capacity. Is the trade off for the suede worth it?

If I'm getting suede bucket seats maybe I should test drive a base SRT?.... That seems like a bad idea....:)

This is why I recommend that someone that wants the updated interior of the '21+ models should only get a '21. After that year there were many instances of parts removed from builds, colors removed, idiotic option packages created by Dodge at inflated prices, TNG and SRT don't get spare tires, TNG and SRT don't get suede headliners, limited seat options, Tech package components don't necessarily get the Blind Spot detection, etc, etc. Oh, and fog lamps are eliminated from some trims, but I can't remember which ones. There is at least one thread here that discusses it so you'll have to search for it.

In 23 they even knocked the Sirius trial to 3 months. Oh the days of getting a year for free then it went to 6 months and now 3.
The sad part is the 21s gave you so much more for so much less. It literally left a bad taste in my mouth. My R/T is 7k < sticker price for the same options.
WTF is Dodge thinking jacking up a vehicle almost 15 percent in 3MYs while de-contenting the hell out of it. I suggest looking for a preowned certified TnG or R/T
A dealer by me has a 22 R/T with 19k on it (lease vehicle) loaded for 45k.

The fog lamps on the 21+ Durango are functional and work well to light up the road surface close to the vehicle. We leave ours on 100% of the time, and I can tell if they accidentally get switched off.

The Durango R/T (including the TnG) has a tach on the left of the cluster. The SRT and Hellcat models have a speedometer on the left of the cluster. Maybe you were looking at an SRT thinking Dodge changed it for all Durangos?

The drive modes in the TnG are fantastic! I haven't towed anything yet with our 2023 R/T TnG, but have used the mode just to check it out. It locks out 8th (maybe 7th too?), holds gears longer, etc ... Of course, the paddles are always just a flick away too.

We went through a similar thing when we were looking to replace our old 2016 Durango R/T. We ended up buying a 2023 JCG-L Summit Reserve with the Hemi and a 2nd row bench seat, and after a couple of months, ended up trading it back in for the Durango TnG. It was a very plush vehicle but was so disconnected from the driving experience, it just wasn't for us.

Again, same story here. My wife made it a requirement to have 7 seats. I also liked the suede SRT seats and wish they had offered it with a bench. I suppose a Katskins recover is always an option?

You can get the suede seat package (with 2nd row captains) in the R/T TnG as well. Of course, if you want the SRT engine power, then the SRT is the way to go ... but the TnG has all of the SRT components but with the 5.7L engine instead ... and, tit's classified as an R/T not an SRT. So incentives are usually better, insurance is cheaper, etc ...

Hmm, my 2023 R/T TnG Premium has the suede headliner, all tech components, fogs, etc ... I know 2024 eliminated the fogs ... did they take away the suede for Premium as well?

Blind spot detection was missing for a brief period in the 2022/2023 builds (I can't remember which, but was only for a couple of months) due to chip shortages at the time.
