I went to get my 01 Durango smogged and they said they can't smog it because my radiator is leaking. They were right, they showed me where it was leaking. I have the trailer tow package, which includes the 2" square tube mount and the extra little radiator for the ATF. My question is, when you have this tranny fluid radiator is it still also routed through the bottom of the main radiator? If not it will make a radiator swap easier and cleaner, and I am more likely to do it myself. I suppose it will also affect which replacement radiator I need. I tried looking with a flashlight, but the fan shroud is in the way. I can see the hoses going forward but I can't see where they end. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Use this link to get to the Chiltons repair manual online which will show you how to remove and replace the radiator. Go to the bottom of the page and there is a link to the manual with the public password.

Just look up the part and review the stock images.

Looking at the images of Radiators on Rockauto, it looks like there are transmission lines going into the radiator. There isn't much of a point in having 2 transmission coolers and I don't see a separate transmission cooler listed, so I suspect that the extra cooler mounted to the radiator is your power steering cooler.

I dont understand the radiator leaking being something to p[revent a vehicle from being "smogged".
On the auxilary trans cooler, yes/ if you have it, fluid will still go thru the radiator as well
just like one that came equipped without the auxilary cooler. It really doesn't effect replacing the radiator. same process, procedure, the lines at the radiator connect/disconnect the same way whether it has the 2nd one or not.
whether you tow or not, If you don't have an auxilary trans cooler, it would be of great help to add one. It really does help the transmission last. as well as just the fact that having this increases fluid capacity over one that doesn't, the extra fluid in and of itself is a benefit that improves cooling..... besides the benefits of the cooler itself.
My 01 has this as factory equipment. My 03 doesn't. After 314k yes the trans is dead in the 01. But I attribute the fact that it had one to begin with in allowing this trans to go that far..... I will be replacing it when I put the fresh transmission in there, and I will be adding one to my 03 that never came with one.
