2020 Durango RT AWD 77K, Not driven hard (wife's car).

Suddenly during Tight turns noted front end BINDING as if a differential had locked up, traction control icon lit up.

After a few more turns the "Service AWD" message appeared along with the Traction control icon, the Binding QUIT - I assume the system went to rear wheel drive only.

Same thing happened to my wife’s 2018 Durango R/T. Had to take it to the dealer because my local mechanic couldn’t figure it out. Ours was the AWD selector in the car.. they replaced that and another part I’ll have to try and see if I still have an invoice.
Hers was having issues with going into reverse. Had a small shudder at acceleration from a stop.

We traded it in shortly after it got fixed and got a 22 R/T

I have the same "Service 4WD" light on in my 2007 DD Hemi AWD. I plan to change both transaxle fluids, delete the code and hopefully the light doesn't come back on....
