So my wife has a 2013 with the power liftgate. The Powered lift is now broken and it no longer will unlock properly despite replacing the lock. Does anyone know what parts I would need to convert the whole thing to a manual setup so I can just pull the handle and have it actually unlock? I think I need this to start with, but not sure:

Lift-Gate Latch - Mopar (4589131AG)

Thanks in advance! She has always hated the auto opening gate...

I haven't dealt with the newer DD's, but I don't think its possible simply because power lift-gates usually have a button rather than a mechanical latch. If you can get that to work, I am not confident that it would be plug and play with the lock system on the vehicle, which is computer controlled.

Power lift gates rely on the motor and switches that trigger the latch to open. Does it make any noises or clicks when you try to open it?

However the SXTs are done is what you would need. The base models didn't have power liftgates.

When you replaced the lock did you have the liftgate calibrated for open/close position?

I did not. It worked right away when I replaced the lock. Here is the rundown explained a bit better. Maybe after reading it you can tell me if it's a calibration issue. Remember that it's only a 2013 crew.

1. Hatch stopped latching closed, wife and kids kept slamming it thinking that would help (it didn't) so the powered lift arm and the powered latch were toast.

2. I replaced the powered latch with a new one and it latches every time now. The new problem is that it will no longer unlock itself. I can hear it cycling and if you watch it from inside it flexes but won't release.

3. My plan is to buy the bracket I need to replaced the powered arm with the standard strut I already have for it.

4. The second part is to replace the powered latch with a mechanical one so that when I pull up on the handle it releases the latch. I know there is still an electrical unlock component but it looks like I already have what's necessary wiring wise to make that work even if I have to cannibalize wiring from the existing one.

We had a 2011 with the non powered lift opener and that's what I'm aiming for

The latch doesn't even unlock now and when it did the lift arm just clicked unless you slowly raised the gate until it caught, then It worked to raise it the rest of the way and stopped when it should. Lowering it you had to hand start it until it caught as well. I think it's stripped out and my wife hates it anyway and wants to be able to just open and close it manually.

Have you had any luck with converting your hatch to work manually? I want to do the same thing and would like a parts list in order to do the job.
I just converted my power hatch to manual. I purchased
Stabilus 10mm Lift Support Hardware from Autozone - the other bolt had sheared off. I had to drill and tap the old hardware which was a pain. I got the manual strut from Autozone as well.
