I just bought a durango and added the Tesla screen to it. now my rear entertainment system doesn’t work. the screens just flash and that is it. i am wondering if i need another wire harness or how the dvd screens get signal so i can work something up from there. Any ideas?

I'm sure it will only work with the U-connect radio. So, back to U-connect for you!

Not sure what year your DD is… but on my 05’ DD when I had a Kenwood head unit (DVD, NAV etc) installed my OEM rear over head DVD did not work.

I asked the tech why and he said the factory DVD and Kenwood units were not compatible. I was ok with it since kids were already in college and didn’t need rear entertainment system. Not sure if this is your same issue?

I had a 2005 grand cherokee and the a 2007 Magnum that both had the rear dvd systems. I was able to tap into the rear screen for a signal that I could play at the front screen. I looked at the wiring pinout for a 2018 Durango with rear DVD. It seems like it is a much more complex situation. My other cars only had one video signal. The newer ones appear to have 3, but it still may be possible

I had to replace one of my screens and I noticed that that the plugs were proprietary.

Maybe it could be done if you traced back each wire to know what they do.

Otherwise there's too many variables.
did you work on the screen yourself? i noticed that under the seats they have a white uconnect cord

So i am selling the tesla screen to another durango owner. I bought this other unit that gives you wireless apple car play and you are able to still keep the dvd screens working. the picture is a little stretched but it doesn’t bother me.

Yes I worked on it myself. Removed the screen from the back of the seat that my kid scratched with a coat hanger and replaced it with a new one.

The screen in your front dash looks nice.

I have a Citadel + I like all the features + that they're all configurable from the radio in the front. Also XM + local AM are all I need.

In my 2005 Tacoma I installed a double din head unit + new speakers and a 12. In that car I use Android Auto + Pandora + iHeartRadio.

The one thing (for me) that makes Android Auto better than the OEM 2014 uConnect is Waze. It would be nice to get real time traffic updates + speed trap warnings.

I have a 2017 rt durangon tesla screen
Dvd does work with radio
Work by itself for rear viewing

Bozos putting Tesla screens in Durangos! What could possibly go wrong?

What aftermarket unit is they if you don't mind me asking? I have a 2015 DDRT with rear screens and I want to swap out the head unit with an aftermarket they has car play and android auto. But at the same time I'm trying to retain all of my features including the rear screens, heated seats, etc.
I'm the same as you. The current uConnect screen size isnt bad. But if those Tesla type units were direct dropins + maintained all functionality I'd make the upgrade in a heartbeat.

Last time I checked the rear 3rd row "head wackers" feature wasn't supported. I also heard that you had to buy a skin from some guy in Russia to make it look nice. Rear screen functionality was unknown. But it appears that others on this thread say that its working.
