As I outlined in a previous post, we've driven Durangos since 2012 but this year we decided to try a more luxury option ... well, it was only a few weeks of owning the Jeep when we decided we're just not ready to give up the sport/performance aspect for plush/luxury ... so we placed an order for a 2023 Durango before it's no longer available.

2023 Durango AWD R/T Premium, Tow and Go, Blacktop, in Octane Red, black leather, with the bench seat for 7 passengers.

Looks like it's moving along nicely. I got a text from my dealer today informing me it was in 'F' status (paint) and the order was still showing an estimated ship date of Aug 30 (ie: tomorrow).

I'm thankful it looks like we will avoid the UAW situation, if they decide to strike on Sep 14th ... unless something causes our build to be significantly delayed during the QC check.

When we ordered the Jeep, it took 10 days to go from Detroit to my dealer. So if the Durango ships tomorrow as planned, I'm thinking it'll arrive sometime the week of Sep 11th.

Ordered ours 7/28 and it was built 8/28. Just waiting for it to ship. And agreed on the strike. Thankfully getting it before - I just hope the possibility of the strike didn’t impact quality…
Nice, sounds like our two builds might be going on the same train? Your dealer should be able to look at the order and get you the estimated ship date.

Did you order a TnG as well? Maybe they were waiting for parts from a supplier ... considering our two orders were submitted 8 days apart but built on the same day.

I'm not aware of situations where the rail unions have honored UAW picket lines, but it wouldn't surprise me. If that happens, the railroads may bring in non-union management to operate the trains in and out of the auto-rack loading yards.

That said, if UAW strikes Stellantis, I fully expect the flow of new vehicles to fall off to a trickle.

Any cars that are built prior to a strike are typically delivered. The OEM cannot recognize the revenue until the vehicle leaves the yard, and they will do everything possible to ensure all built units leave. In years past, they have always been able to extend the deadline, so it's likely we won't see a complete shutdown on 9/14.

it is bad enough that UAW workers for Dodge can be supb-par but if non management people take over production during a strike, anything the UAW workers delivered will look like gold compared to what management workers will deliver. Missing engines, brake lines, struts, partial painting, different seats front to rear (color and or type), etc etc. Thsi is when manufacturers will make the dealers fix issues on delivery to the dealers prior to sales. Again, it will be as far from custoemr friendly as possible.

It will surely be a show and not the time to buy a Stellantis product.

Build complete! :)

Image

Hoping it ships this week ... I'm making an appointment with a local shop for the week it arrives, to have the windows tinted, PPF put on the front, the OEM black + redline stripe kit installed, and then ceramic coating over everything (including the wheels and calipers).

I'm also getting an SRT front splitter painted ahead of time, which I'll install prior to bringing to the shop so it can get the PPF and ceramic coating as well.

I already have the OEM stripe kit and the splitter on hand, sitting here in my office ..... just need the vehicle :D

The end result will be this, plus fog lights and minus the SRT/Hellcat badging of course...

While the Jeep tracker shows the window sticker and build sheet still unavailable, I decided to check anyway. My build sheet is populating, but no window sticker yet. I imagine it'll be available tomorrow.

You’re ahead of the game on mods! Only thing I’ve done is ordered rock guards.
LOL, definitely trying to be ahead of the game. If I can get the vehicle exactly how we want it on week 1, it'll make the honeymoon period so much better for the wife as she drives it everyday.

She really missed the 2016 R/T when we sold it. So much so, she cried over it a bit. The Jeep just wasn't able to fill the gap ... I'm sure the TnG will, especially with the appearance mods :)

This is what she had before the Jeep ... I'm definitely a lucky guy, with a wife who is a borderline gear head and has an appreciation for performance vehicles

I just wish the new ones were offered in Redline Red ... I don't understand why they took that color away, even from the SRT lines. It was definitely one of the best color choices for the performance vehicles.

My wife as well. She is the reason we bought our '06 Daytona when we were shopping for a Magnum. And now she is still thrilled to be driving our DD with the lift kit and big tires.

Mine shipped 9/1. I expect I would be taking delivery pretty soon, maybe by 9/15?
Nice! Mine is still showing as not shipped yet, but the estimated delivery date was changed from Sep 26 to Sep 22.

Image

My experience with the Jeep was that it arrived at my dealer about a week prior to the estimation. So maybe it has shipped but the online tracker isn't updated yet? The tracker seems to update a day after an event, but maybe the holiday weekend is adding further delay?

Or ... maybe they're waiting to ship until another vehicle bound for my dealer is ready to go? When we ordered back in July, we actually ordered the Night Moves color with silver stripes, but changed the order later that day. Apparently the dealer created a new order for the red and tried to cancel the Night Moves one, but it still went through. That one is showing in production still, as I imagine the stripes take longer. So they may be waiting to ship mine until the Night Moves one is ready as well?? Not sure, but would seem reasonable.

BTW: If anyone wants a R/T Premium TnG, my dealer will have this one on the lot sometime soon LOL

Finally updated to KZM, with a populated date of Sep 2 for the ship event.

Image

Strangely, the estimated arrival date switched back to the 26th though.

My dealer tells me the vehicle is scheduled to arrive at the Dallas rail head on the 14th (tomorrow).

The last vehicle I ordered from Stellantis took 17 days from ship to arrival at dealer. If this one follows the same, it should be arriving at my dealer on Tuesday the 19th ... but we'll see.

I also now have an appointment for Monday the 25th at my preferred shop to have the following performed with Xpel products:

SequenceStep
11 Stage Paint Correction
2Front Bumper, Mirrors & lights PPF
3OEM Stripe Install Labor
4Ceramic Coat All Body Panels (Inc PPF + OEM Stripes)
5Ceramic Coat Wheels & Calipers
6Ceramic Window Tint (+windshield and sunroof)

I should be picking up the Hellcat front lower fascia this week as well, as the same shop is painting it ahead of time so I can get it installed prior to the appointment on the 25th.

Mine just went into E status on 9/12. Fingers crossed it gets completed before midnight tonight.
I'm only 30 minutes from the plant, so I'm hoping if it does ship out by tomorrow I will have it by month end. My 2nd concern is it delivering after month end and STLA pulling all the rebates in October.
