Hello all,
anyone know what the weight of the 3rd row seats are? I'm speaking of the R/T leather models in a 2017. Also what does the bench 2nd row weigh? Is it heavier then the captain chairs with a center console?

Or if not where can I find this info, I'm striking out honestly.

I saw on the dodge website on the SRT an option for light weight seating. It comes with a bench 2nd row and a 3rd row delete. I wonder what the 3rd row delete parts would be? I remember seeing the SXT models with no 3rd row had some kind of storage box or something to make the floor flat in the back like when you lower the 3rd row seats.

trying to shed weight for 1/4 mile times?

Of course! I'm going to Atco September 4th to make some Stock passes with just a K&N air filter. I never use the 3rd row so if there is a higher weight option I'm all ears. I plan on pulling them out for the runs anyway. I already have the bench seat option for the 2nd row. They might come out 2 for the run LOL. I'm thinking the spare tire might not be needed to clock in some ET times. That jack that sits in there also might slow me down LOL.

Be careful removing either of the front seats. Some of the newer cars will require some type of recalibration for the restraint system if either front seat is removed.

I'm not gonna do all that. I just really was curious about the weight difference and actual weight of the seats. The New SRT has a weight reduction option to remove the 3rd row and to use a bench instead of captain chairs in the 2nd row. So I gotta assume the bench is lighter then the Captain chairs correct? I can't seem to find any real info on this.

I wonder if you went to the dealer and asked about ordering a bench seat and two captain chairs would he be able to see shipping weight.

Not a bad idea. I'd also like to know the weight savings of getting rid of the 3rd row and installing the storage boxes to make the cargo area flat.

If one wanted to make the R//T faster, weight is absolutely something that needs to be addressed. The damn thing is amazingly heavy so anything to reduce weight is a good thing.
For a daily driver maybe changing the full size spare to a donut would reduce some weight. I'm sure not by much or using a really lightweight rim and tire would make a small difference. By keeping a spare but not adding extra weight.

For the sheer hell of it I pulled out the 3rd row only to discover it doesn't weigh all that much. I'm now a bit curious on the SRT offering the weight reduction package as I'm assuming after you install the storage box kit you only shed maybe 30 lbs? It doesn't feel all that heavy. I expected it to weigh more. I bet the 2nd row weighs a lot more or at least to look like it does.

I'm going to the track this Tuesday . The weather is going to hot like 91 degrees so I'm not sure what kind of numbers I can put up in that kind of heat. Hopefully it cools down later that night and I can make 1 good pass.

Back to the weight thing, the 2nd row vs the Caption chair must make some kind of difference as well. The Bench must weigh less according to that SRT package but I can't seem to find any info. I
may write Dodge and get the scoop on the actual weight savings.
If one wanted to build a fast Durango and make it a daily driver, there are so many things to consider to do. Weight is my first thought as it's just to damn heavy. Un sprung weight is another area to consider. Rims, suspension etc need to be considered to lighten.
I wonder how fast the Durango R/T could go with a proper weight reduction but fully functional vehicle could be? Without any modifications to the engine ?
