I'm new here and not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question so please point me in the right direction if need be. I bought a 2009 Durango super cheap, suspected it might need a new engine, which was true. We found an 2002 4.7 engine that came out of a Dakota. Now we are not sure if it will actually work in the Durango or if we can make it work. It's just going to be used as a daily driver not anything special. Any Idea's on if and how it might work? Thank you for ay help. R

I don't have the answer but....

Short block seems to be used from 2003-2007 which suggests maybe crank has same reluctor as the same crankshaft is used from 2002-2007.

Heads seem to be used from 2001-2007.

And camshaft appear to be the only change as they are the same from 2003-2007 which could explain why the short block is also only used on those years?

If looking for a complete engine I believe you'll need a 2008 or 2009 4.7L as that was the year of the revised version known as the Corsair 4.7 which has dual spark plugs per cylinder like the Hemi.
Otherwise you'll need a longblock and transfer over all the accessories off your engine.
