My 2016 Durango has been mostly trouble free for the 153,000 miles so far, other than needing a new front differential last year. Yesterday a small and odd problem arose. While in the Auto setting for the climate control, if I click the Recirculate button to try to cool the car faster, it blinks a few times and then goes out. The owners manual says this will happen when in Front Defrost mode, which I was not. If I go to the Climate controls and press Max Air, it will go into recirculate but not under Auto. I find it hard to understand how this minor softward problem can arise after 7 years.

Hey Vito,

Auto is auto so that is why it is blinking. If you take it out of auto it will work. My Ram and challenger did the same thing however on my 21 Durango, anything I press will take it out of auto. it could also mean your auto ALREADY has it in recirc mode.

here is a tip to col off your truck faster. If you have a sun roof, pop it open 3 or 4 "s to exhaust hot air. if you don't have a sunroof then crack your windows down an inch for the same effect.

I can get it into Recirculate if I take it out of Auto and go to A/C, but I started this thread because for 7 years I have been able to get it to Recirculate while in Auto, and all of a sudden that no longer works. Just seemed very strange to me. I guess its possible that my memory of what it used to do is playing tricks on me.

Bottom line is that this Durango has been amazingly reliable and trouble free. I shouldn't fret over the little things.
