Hi all.
I just bought a 2005 durango slt 4x4. The key I was given works but the fob does not. I have no security light on the dash at all. I bought new keys off Amazon and had them cut. The new keys work with out any error. Starts vehicle no issues and NO programming was done once so ever.
I still cannot get the fobs to work. I’m thinking someone maybe disabled the security system???? How can I get the fobs/keyless entry to lock and unlock the doors?

Welcome to DDN. These keys you have, are they all the FOBs with buttons, or are there some with just a black or gray head?

Don,

it is the remote key head with the 3 buttons on top of the key.
Don,
Correct the key has the 3 buttons on the remote head. I spoke to the previous owner, they stated their fob never worked since they bought it from a previous owner. My only assumption is the security system had been bypassed or disabled at some point since the keys I just had cut work with out the engine getting locked out.

You might be correct about the bypass, or possibly the module in question was replaced with one that does not have the security system. Have you attempted to put the D into program mode, and try to program the fobs?

Don,
If you mean the sequence of putting the key in on Acc. Pushing the key fob lock and panic buttons, yes. Although no light comes on the dash, I do hear an audible single tone. That in most videos I’ve watched would mean that it is in program mode. I then push the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously on the new fob and nothing happens.
many ideas on what to try next. My other puzzling thought is even if the module was replaced, shouldn’t a security light still be present on the dash? Perhaps an aftermarket keyless entry might work. I don’t really care about the hassle these alarms bring or the alarm itself. I just want to be able to remotely lock and unlock my doors.
have you heard of any such bypass on these that I could potentially trace down in the vehicle, or where this security module is located?

The security stuff is in the PCM on the Gen 1 D's but I'm not sure where it is on the Gen 2's. There is a module inside the steering column, call the WIN module. It is involved in the programing process, so if it's bad, that may be your issue.
