They should be but your copies are all that they should need.
one of the service advisors comments was that the leak originated at the windshield, and windshields are only under warranty for 1 year from Original purchasers date... i bought the car used so it likely wouldn't qualify... hmmm
Since the windshield is not broken, and it is the seal, could that be an argument?

Only if it's the original window and the documented cure to the issues you brought up prior to warranty expiration were solved by replacing or reinstalling the window. You might have to enlist the BBB or small claims court to get their attention.

I guess I can possibly imagine 'defects' in the manufacture of the glass but improperly installed or a bad seal I would think would fall under warranty? Same notion of the sunroof was leaking? See if you can find that 'wording' in your warranty documentation if you have it.

they are saying it's not covered under warranty... so cost is $2200!
My husband has a dispute number to call at Dodge Corporate, so maybe he can get somewhere with them.
I guess $2200 is better than having to trade in or sell and lose thousands of $$-- especially if this is the core problem.

Add glass coverage to your insurance policy then, if Dodge won't pony up, you can have a glass company fix it. You might have to break it first though.

Are they saying just the windshield replacement is $2,200??

If we are just talking windshield R & R then I think it should be around 1/2 that price. I have a '22 and I'm on my 3rd windshield, the prior 2 met rocks out and about, the first one 3 days after I had the car. The 1st one I had the dealership change and it was around $1,100 bucks. Shop around, find the price of the windshield itself from several dealers, find the part # and directly call the parts department. A 2020 windshield can't be much different than a '22. I will say my dealer did not 'physically' replace the windshield, they have a local service that comes in and does windshield work for them at the dealership.

Also, as Tin Foil Hat alluded to, see if it may be covered under your car insurance or see what prices your traditional windshield replacement company offers.

so here is the culprit of all the electrical issues (hopefully!) You can see all the corrosion and water damage! All from a bad windshield seal.
You can see in the photo, the bubbles created from the bad seal when they found to.
So, got the car back and haven't had problems --- except now my horn doesn't work! 🤦🏼‍♀️
It works when you press remote to lock or start, but not when pressing the center of steering wheel.

Sorry to hear that you are going through this... One of the main reasons I got rid of my 05" D was water getting in through the sunroof and having the same issues as you (i.e., water-soaked modules, corroded harness connections, etc.)... With limited or no factory parts support and no decent used parts available I traded her in on a new DD.

Now I am very concerned that this might happening all over again. Has Dodge not addressed these issues in over 18 years?

This is unacceptable!

PLEASE let us know the disposition of your claim!

I am new here, but I thought I saw a "Dodge Rep" floating around on this forum...

I can see the windshield being covered by Insurance, but the other damage is Dodge's.

Possibly consider disputing the charge with your credit card company, Dodge is responsible for this, they need to own up to the issue.

they said it's not warranty covered... someone suggested i try my car insurance, and I have yet to call them. My husband was goi g to call a dispute line, but we have lost the phone number.

This sounds to me, like a case of semantics. While the glass itself might only be covered for a year or say 12k, the sealing of said window, SHOULD be covered for the entire 3/36 warranty. It is absolutely mind boggling to hear how dealers try to weasel out of what should certainly be a warranty fix.
Unless the windshield has been damaged, or already replaced, then Dodge screwed up when they built it.

What a crock of sh*t!!!!!!!!

Go get some deoxit or similar electronic circuit/contact cleaner. Spray the sh^t out of the connectors and watch the corrosion drip off.
Deoxit dries quick with no residue, I use it on my tube amps, switches etc.

I suggest that you follow the advice given in the post by Vice-White I quoted above.
Search Amazon for D5S-6 CAIG DeoxIT

I have used this product for as long as I recall, and I go back quite some time.

Then do the following, he would have told you this too if he had recalled at the time of writing I'm sure:
Insert and remove the connector parts at least 3 times!

This will create "fresh traces" on the pins in the connector and thus create a better connection. And just to be really sure to "never" have this issue occur again, give the connectors another "hosing down" with Deoxit, and you should be good to go!

Your second mechanic might have done such a cleaning, but I wouldn't rely on that

Good luck

they replaced the plug... should I still do it? or it's ok now since it's brand new?

Fot what it's worth.

I can only say what I would do, as an ex aerospace engineer, I would take it apart and give it a normal spray and do a couple of insertions/extractions. The Deoxit leaves a light protectant and lubricant film on the surface of the connector pins, which helps prevent bad connections in the future.

You can wipe off the connector if there's a bit of residue on the surface of the connector, as it doesn't do any good there.

I do this every time I disconnect a connector, any connector.

If your mechanic is any good, then he will already have done it, but it never hurts :)

P.S. I'm not sure why they replaced the connector. I'm pretty convinced that by doing as suggested in the previous posts the connector would have been ok. It didn't look "that bad" to me, but maybe if I saw it up close, I would get a different view.

Hope that your car is now running fine again.
