Tuning costs for Mopar???

Hey guys,

Anyone know of good remote tuners? Locally in the Chicagoland area, tuning prices I am seeing are upwards of $1,500-$2,500 for JUST a tune. This includes dyno time, but damn, why have tuning prices gone so high?

I see hemifever is fairly cheap, but being an email tune, probably won't be as spot on.

Thoughts?

I ran hemi fever in my scat pack and it was great. Just data log and send it to him and he adjusts. That’s what dyno’s do. If anything his is better because it’s under actual driving loads and not a static load like a dyno.

And those prices are insane. Last quote I got was $600 for a dyno tune.

I'm pretty sure that 2015 and up Mopar products need an unlocked PCM to tune. Does that price include the PCM or unlocking?

Actually does not. That is done for $250 through HPTuners. So, $1,750 for a tune. Hmm..

Just got another quote today for $2,300 for a tune with PCM unlock. Jesus...Questioning owning a MOPAR or going back to Ford. LOL

Just keep the DD and run the crap out of it. It's plenty quick with the 5.7. Otherwise you'll be spending more than that plus your DD to get something else.

FWIW HP tuners used to have a deal where if you bought the interface the PCM was unlocked for free (otherwise costs $250). +2018 FCA vehicles require a security bypass and credits are $50 each. To write to a PCM for the first time requires 2 credits and to write to a TCM requires 4 credits. On +2017 models, if you install an unlocked PCM a P1400 (aftermarket tune detected) will be stored and cannot be removed even if you swap in the stock PCM.

Creating this post so newbies understand what it costs up front to go down the path of DIY tuning. I don't consider Diablo DIY because you are very limited in the parameters you can change. Does not mean I don't like Diablo tuners...they are great but to me they are for a different use case...

I have gone through the Direct Connection catalog, and there is not much at all for the Durango. They seem to be focusing on the Charger/Challenger Hellcats
