Not sure what you mean... Perhaps you didnt know but hyper black has been used as the colour name for silver wheels with what appears to be a dark clear for ... decades now. They are using the correct colour term as hyper black is like a dark tinted silver chrome type look and isn't supposed to be "black".

I think his point is that lots of people, including me who is fairly car-savvy, assumed (incorrectly) that 'hyper-black" meant black, or at least black-ish. Even the pic of the wheel on the website looks blacker than it is....and the standard wheel on older models were clearly darker.

I am not pissed about it because I could easily have done better homework if it was a big deal to me, but I am sure that lots of more complaining types have been more vocal. Had I known, I probably would have gotten them anyway since I would not have spent another $1895 for the black package. But that's just me. I also speak common english, and understand that, when talking about colors, "black" generally implies....a dark appearance.

When i ordered my SRT i went went with Hyper Black wheels cause i wanted, you know, black wheels and Hyper means “super” or “extremely” or “excessive”….. then from this forum i got conflicting info that they were in fact silver even tho the website showed them as black (since corrected). Even my dealer assured me they were black. Anyway they ended up powder coating them on their dime….

I stand corrected. Thank you for the lesson. I just hear more from the SRT owners that ordered them not knowing they are more silver than black.

4 months and a week after ordering, our 2023 SRT 392 Premium was delivered, to replace our 2019. Pics attached. Comparison comments, (only after a couple of days and not so many miles):

Owners manual: The 2019 did not come with a paper owners manual; it was only available in electronic form on the uConnect system. I had to contact Dodge and they sent me an owners manual (in English and Spanish) and the little red pouch at no charge. The 2023 came with all the proper paper documentation and the little red pouch.

Interior: the 2019 has the standard black interior, the 2023 has the premium interior and the red leather. The premium interior bits are nice. Whether they are worth the money is an individual thing. The red leather seats are "OK." Though it looks bright red in the photos, it is actually a more subdued "wine" color. The leather is nice and soft; they feel better than the black alcantara. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. They will grow on me (but...so will fungus). I also don't know why they consider them to be "performance" seats; they are the same as the black seats just covered with red leather. It took me a while to figure out how to adjust the angle of the headrests. I suppose I could have looked it up in the manual....but what fun is that. The headliner is the same crappy cloth material in both cars.

Not thrilled that the mirrors and sharkfin on the 2023 are black instead of body color, but c'est la vie.

Though the 2023 is still being babied since it is being broken in, they both seem to drive exactly the same.

The 2019 came with Pirelli Scorpion Verde all season tires. The 2023 came with Pirelli Scorpion Zero all seasons. Potato, potahto.

I thought I would able to instinctively understand the new button/menu layout and uConnect 5. It's very different. I need to spend some time playing with it.

On the 2019, the dash would show "D" when the car was in drive, AND show what gear it was in, whether you were in manual mode or automatic mode. On the 2023, when in auto mode it just shows a D, and when you switch to manual mode the D changes to a gear number.

The 2019 has a small piece of PPF on the lower rear corner of each rear door. The 2023 does NOT have that piece of PPF. It does have the small strip of PPF on the front of the rear fender flare, though.

I did not get the second row console on the 2019. I "had to" get it on the 2023. It looks great and might be quite functional IF we rode a lot with kids or others in the back seat. For me, though, it is just in the way and takes up space that I usually fill with a backpack or other gear when we load up the car with gear, especially then the second row seats are folded down. It also prevents passengers from merely stepping between the second row seats to get to the third row.

On the 2019, the red calipers merely had "Brembo" painted on them. On the 2023, . they have the "SRT" logo in big letters, and "Brembo" in small letters. As I am sure you know, Brembo brakes are made by several different vendors under license from Brembo. Not sure if different vendors are using different markings, or if this is an "across the board" change from 2019.

I am a little disappointed at the brighter color of the "standard" wheels. I expected them to be darker, like the 2019. My bad....I should have looked closer (silly me...I thought "Hyper black" meant that they were....I dunno....black?). Had I known though I probably would not have spent the money for the black package, and would have gotten these anyway.

Love the wireless charger and the wireless Android Auto, though the charger takes up a lot of space in the tray in front of the shifter.

In addition to the different shape of the front bumper and grill, the grill and the black plastic hood vents have a different pattern than the honeycomb of the 2019.

The fit and finish of both the 2023 and the 2019 were excellent. Nothing looked noticeably out of place on either car. On the 2019 they had to adjust the liftgate latch mechanism prior to delivery I caught it, not them). The 2023 was get in it and go.

Lots to figure out on the new buttons and uConnect 5. I might be posting up some Q's as I go through it. Love the bigger screen and the seemingly higher resolution. I have to figure out the menus so I can turn off the DRL's and those silly automatic high beams. Have not had a chance to try out the adaptive cruise control or the lane departure stuff yet. Works fine on the 2019...though my wife's 2016 Subaru outback had the best of any car that I have driven.

The lack of spare tire is annoying, and i might remedy that.

I will probably try to sell the 2019 for $56-$58K....will probably post something in the "for sale" section. Thought about keeping it, but just to spendy to keep and it's worth too much money. PM me if interested......(DC metro area). (If this is a rules violation I apologize).

EDIT: I suppose the Harmon Kardon system sounds great. I will never know nor care because my hearing is shot. That is probably the only option in the Premium package that, for me, was a a complete waste of money.

More to come as I learn more about the new one. But generally happy with the new one, so far.

Nice looking ride. Just got my 2023 R/T Premium TNG. Looks identical to yours except the SRT badges. Has the black interior, 10" wheels, etc. I couldn't justify the extra $$$ for the SRT. Buy it sure sounds great, runs great. Takes me back to the late 60's Charges & Challengers of younger years. Most surprising, it only took 5 weeks (Feb 24th to Mar 31st) from order to delivery. Only issue I had was transit damage to the roof, 3 dimples & some scratches from what looks to me like careless handling of chain binder tie-downs. Just workers not caring! 😠

OK, so my "mods" are done, and it is ready to be a daily driver. The mods are only PPF on the front surfaces, body side molding to reduce door dings (maybe), cargo liner, and the spare tire and related accoutrements. And a quick polish and Adams ceramic spray (NOT to be confused with Ceramic Coating) application. All that easily added 60 rwhp (kidding). Now it's ready to hit the rock-strewn highway, be parked at shopping malls, and have hunting and fishing gear tossed in the back. Uconnect 5 questions will be posted in another thread.....

I found a bonus of the "hyper black" wheels. It helps hide the brake dust of the factory Brembos. Unfortunately, the white body color does just the opposite.....

I did notice a fender misalignment issue and I am trying to decide if I want the dealer to try to fix it or just leave it be...

Nice rig! How much did the spare tire set you back? What steps did you take in order to get it installed? When I ordered my rig back in June 2022 the spare tire and towing package were not options at the time.

The spare tire stuff was from a donor car. To order everything from a dealer would probably be close to or over $1000, and I am not sure if a dealer can get you a mounted spare, or if you have to buy the wheel and then go to a tire store to get the tire and have it mounted. Everything just bolts right up to the 2023. All holes, blind nuts for mounting the winch, and the mounting studs for the heat shield are there (but you need to get the bolts and nuts). There is a rubber plug covering the hole for the winch access from the interior, that pops right out. Install took about 20 minutes. The hardest part was figuring out how to get the stamped steel retaining piece through the hole in the center of the spare....

Now that I have some miles on it...I have noticed a few more things different on the 2023 v. 2019. It is TUNED differently. Or at least MY 2023 acts like it is tuned differently than MY 2019.

Throttle response (in street, sport, AND track) is softer on the 2023. It is just as quick when you stomp on it, but you have to push the pedal farther to get it to go. With the 2019, you had to be very gentle when accellerating from a stop (except in silly ECO mode), otherwise it would lurch forward. With the 2023, such gentleness is not needed. If you are in "D" and want to accelerate to pass, it will not downshift as readily as the 2019. You have to push the pedal down farther. Also, the 2019 had that slight RPM increase between shifts when accellerating hard, that would give that nice short "BRAP" sound between shifts. That does not happen on the 2023, in any mode.

I do not pay much attention to my "around town" gas mileage, but it seems like it is higher on the 2023. Highway mileage is the same (18-20 depending upon how fast I go), but my average seems like it is higher. Only have about 800 miles so far...but I do not think that the DDSRT has a "break-in-tune" that goes away after 1000 or 1500 miles. I recall my Z06 did have such a tune though.

Other things: Though I was originally pleased with the fit and finish....I now see a front fender misalignment casuing some funky panel gaps between the fender, the bumper, and the wheel lip molding. Fixing it would like require a lot of unbolting and create other alignment issues, so I will live with it. Also the driver's side "kick panel" above the brake pedal is effed up....so I will ask them about that if I need any future warranty work.

I have gotten over my dislike of uConnnect 5. Once I figured out how to use and reorder home screens and widgets, I am good to go.

I dislike the "push to open" fuel door....it requires multiple pushes to open and/or to close.

I actually do like the HK soundsystem. My deaf ears can still hear the difference. And my equalizer settings do not get erased when I shut the car off. They only apply to one profile, though, so if I switch fobs or switch profiles, all the settings and favorites are gone. I have solved that by making only one profile applicable to both fobs (I think, anyway).

I do hate the second row console. When I fold the second row down to carry stuff, that friggin console sticks up and is in the way of....everything. I suppose that second row passengers will appreciate it......but that will not be me too often....

Overall....still liking it. The red seats and the hyper non-black wheels are, as expected, growing on me.

you can flip the rear console top forward to make it flush with the seat backs...
Wow...thanks. Will have to give that a try; I actually toyed with removing it and installing the standard "tray." Is that little tidbit in the manual somewhere?

EDIT: That was easy (having just gone down to the garage to check it out). One less thing to dislike. I wonder if I would have ever figured that out without this forum?

You can and I did program the two key fobs to two different profiles. Follow the instructions CAREFULLY in the owners manual.

Definitely in the manual somewhere, that's where I remember reading it.

Indeed! that is one thing I cannot stand with the vehicle.... Not only is the door not "flush" with the body... several attempts to open and close each time...
I'm marking on the calendar the day I can do it with one push to open and one push to close! :p

Can't imagine someone coming up with the idea and then demonstrating it to a group of individuals.... pushing multiple times each way to open and close.... and everyone around in a semi-circle saying..... ehh, that's fine, good job, finely executed mechanism!:ROFLMAO:

100% agree on the stupid fuel door... still trying to find the "sweet spot" that will open and close with only one attempt. My outside fit and finish are pretty good with the one exception of a speck of dust in the paint right under the right rear window. I do not like the gap between the weather seal and the black plastic interior trim our SRT Jeep did not have this. Did not pick up any increase in MPG over the 2012 Jeep SRT. I guess the extra weight is not helping the 8-speed over the 5-speed.
