Trunk fairing flew off

Not sure what the actual part is called, but the fairing on the top of the trunk blew off during some crazy winds we had last week in Kansas. I was at work and my boss texted me a picture of the fairing hanging sideways. The wind blew it around so it smacked the side of the car, denting and scratching it pretty good. The fairing itself seems to still be in good enough condition.

All of the clips appear to have broken off. Does anyone know where I can get replacement clips or are they permanently mounted to the fairing, indicating I need to buy a replacement?

Before you do anything... there is an active recall on this depending on the year of your DD....

This is the spoiler. Not encouraging to see this on an older Gen 3. Hopefully, it's an oddball event.

Yup, not covered on a '14. It looks like you could reinstall it at least.

That piece does not have a lot of windage....could something have hit it and knocked it off? A flying trash can? Dorothy's house?

EDIT: Just looked up the recall. My 2023 was "scheduled" for production on February 6.....was actually built in early March, and put on a train to Jessup on March 23 or so. Hopefully the spoiler was put on after February 16th....LOL....

Another EDIT: this seems to be the "fix" for the post February 16th builds; have some yahoo trim the corners of the spoiler that was presumably hitting the C-pillar and popping off the spoiler. Then paint right over the rough edges. SMH......

Nope, it was in the back of our work lot, which backs up to several acres of empty fields. It was gusts of around 50-60mph if memory serves me right. There was stuff blown all around town, but didn't find anything nearby that indicates my car got smacked by anything.

I'll bet your gusts were higher than that to rip that sucker loose.

@Zohli I'm inclined to agree with @Tin Foil Hat on this, that was probably a freak wind gust much higher than 50-60 mph.

I live in Myrtle Beach, SC and we get hurricanes and tropical storms. it doesn't even get a local's interest until we start talking a big sized Cat 2 (96+ mph) or a Cat 3 (111+ mph) storm. we had Hurricane Ian make landfall last September as a Cat 1 and we've had numerous Tropical Storms and other Hurricanes over the years. I owned a 2011 Durango since 2013 and replaced that with my 2021 Durango R/T TNG in December 2021. rear spoilers on both of those have been subjected to some pretty high wind gusts from those storms and no issues.

a wind gust from the rear would put a lot of upward force on it, probably much higher than the forces on it driving forward on the highway..

That's just plain odd! My '17 has been through two hurricanes both 130MPH (CAT3) sustained winds, and "nuthin".
Actually, Carol, the dog and I sat out the storm in the SXT, parked in the road out front, as we figured it is safer than our 1984 wood-frame cracker box house. Ian was 6 hours in the eye wall, too.
We got hit with several tree limbs that blew by, but no damage to the car (and very minor to the house).
I'd check with a local dealership that's equipped with a body shop and see if they sell just the clips. I believe they're designed to just "click in" like a door panel, wheel fairing, or piece of trim.

Mine flew off going 120+ down the road. I’ve seen a couple have the issue, they were around your year.

Mine was at mine own doing but I think it’s more common than people think.

Bumping the thread, can anyone help me identify what the parts would be to fix this? I can't find a part number for the clips that I need to replace. Some of the diagrams I've found online for the trunk fairing itself reference the clips, but don't specify their part number or link to where I can get them.

Posted in another thread, but here’s the update after installing a new fairing today. The old bolts stripped out of the fairing, so two of the bolts were rather difficult to remove as they just kept spinning.
