4 months and a week after ordering, our 2023 SRT 392 Premium was delivered, to replace our 2019. Pics attached. Comparison comments, (only after a couple of days and not so many miles):

Owners manual: The 2019 did not come with a paper owners manual; it was only available in electronic form on the uConnect system. I had to contact Dodge and they sent me an owners manual (in English and Spanish) and the little red pouch at no charge. The 2023 came with all the proper paper documentation and the little red pouch.

Interior: the 2019 has the standard black interior, the 2023 has the premium interior and the red leather. The premium interior bits are nice. Whether they are worth the money is an individual thing. The red leather seats are "OK." Though it looks bright red in the photos, it is actually a more subdued "wine" color. The leather is nice and soft; they feel better than the black alcantara. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. They will grow on me (but...so will fungus). I also don't know why they consider them to be "performance" seats; they are the same as the black seats just covered with red leather. It took me a while to figure out how to adjust the angle of the headrests. I suppose I could have looked it up in the manual....but what fun is that. The headliner is the same crappy cloth material in both cars.

Not thrilled that the mirrors and sharkfin on the 2023 are black instead of body color, but c'est la vie.

Though the 2023 is still being babied since it is being broken in, they both seem to drive exactly the same.

The 2019 came with Pirelli Scorpion Verde all season tires. The 2023 came with Pirelli Scorpion Zero all seasons. Potato, potahto.

I thought I would able to instinctively understand the new button/menu layout and uConnect 5. It's very different. I need to spend some time playing with it.

On the 2019, the dash would show "D" when the car was in drive, AND show what gear it was in, whether you were in manual mode or automatic mode. On the 2023, when in auto mode it just shows a D, and when you switch to manual mode the D changes to a gear number.

The 2019 has a small piece of PPF on the lower rear corner of each rear door. The 2023 does NOT have that piece of PPF. It does have the small strip of PPF on the front of the rear fender flare, though.

I did not get the second row console on the 2019. I "had to" get it on the 2023. It looks great and might be quite functional IF we rode a lot with kids or others in the back seat. For me, though, it is just in the way and takes up space that I usually fill with a backpack or other gear when we load up the car with gear, especially then the second row seats are folded down. It also prevents passengers from merely stepping between the second row seats to get to the third row.

On the 2019, the red calipers merely had "Brembo" painted on them. On the 2023, . they have the "SRT" logo in big letters, and "Brembo" in small letters. As I am sure you know, Brembo brakes are made by several different vendors under license from Brembo. Not sure if different vendors are using different markings, or if this is an "across the board" change from 2019.

I am a little disappointed at the brighter color of the "standard" wheels. I expected them to be darker, like the 2019. My bad....I should have looked closer (silly me...I thought "Hyper black" meant that they were....I dunno....black?). Had I known though I probably would not have spent the money for the black package, and would have gotten these anyway.

Love the wireless charger and the wireless Android Auto, though the charger takes up a lot of space in the tray in front of the shifter.

In addition to the different shape of the front bumper and grill, the grill and the black plastic hood vents have a different pattern than the honeycomb of the 2019.

The fit and finish of both the 2023 and the 2019 were excellent. Nothing looked noticeably out of place on either car. On the 2019 they had to adjust the liftgate latch mechanism prior to delivery I caught it, not them). The 2023 was get in it and go.

Lots to figure out on the new buttons and uConnect 5. I might be posting up some Q's as I go through it. Love the bigger screen and the seemingly higher resolution. I have to figure out the menus so I can turn off the DRL's and those silly automatic high beams. Have not had a chance to try out the adaptive cruise control or the lane departure stuff yet. Works fine on the 2019...though my wife's 2016 Subaru outback had the best of any car that I have driven.

The lack of spare tire is annoying, and i might remedy that.

I will probably try to sell the 2019 for $56-$58K....will probably post something in the "for sale" section. Thought about keeping it, but just to spendy to keep and it's worth too much money. PM me if interested......(DC metro area). (If this is a rules violation I apologize).

EDIT: I suppose the Harmon Kardon system sounds great. I will never know nor care because my hearing is shot. That is probably the only option in the Premium package that, for me, was a a complete waste of money.

More to come as I learn more about the new one. But generally happy with the new one, so far.

I believe there is a setting to enable the gear display in D on the IP/cluster setup pages.

Congrats, looks great!!!

Assuming the 'Black Pkg" dictates the mirror and shark fin colors.... although I would not have thought the shark fin to be a park of that....

It doesnt look like it has the "Black Package". The wheels look to be the Hyper-black/silver color and the badges/emblems appear to be chrome. Or my eyes are just that bad now....lol...

Very nice looking Durango OP. You are fortunate to have not one, but two at least in the short term. I have a 5.7 TNG and I like it a lot. Wish sometimes I could have bumped up to the 392, but just wasn't doable, plus my sales person couldn't guarantee me there wouldn't be an "up-charge" when it came in. Administrative costs you know.....

Anyway, yes you can have the gear selection displayed on your dash readout. As I recall I found it in the settings menu somewhere. Don't ask me why, but I like knowing what gear I am actually in while I am driving around. Enjoy the new Durango!!

Congrats on the new ride! As mentioned above there are settings buried all over to display the drive gear on the dash, disable DRLs and everything else mentioned. It will take some time to locate all of it as it’s all over the place on different screens. If you get stuck please post up and I’m sure one of us can post up a quick howto (though I suspect you will find everything after a few minutes). 🍻

It's a crime the Premium trim of the '23 392 and HC don't come with Alcantara headliner.

It's such a subtle but significant upgrade in my opinion.

OK, found all (most of?) the settings. Thanks folks.

I had forgotten from my 2019....I suppose I had set everything up 4 years ago and promptly forgot how to do it. The DRL's and the auto high beam settings are buried in the uConnect "settings" menu, and the gear indicator is on the "screen setup" menu accessible by the left side steering wheel buttons.

Now I need to get some miles on it. I have been holding off on driving it much because there is a lot of road construction (rocks and pebbles) near our house, and I am getting PPF (front surfaces only) done this coming week. Also getting a body color body side molding (from shopsar.com, same as the on the 2019....you can see it in the photos...it has held up well) delivered in a couple of days.

Congrats on your 23! Our 22 optioned out the way we wanted is about the same money as the 23 with some options and fewer options. We did not opt for the second-row console because there are only two of us and I did not like the access blocked. I do like the upgraded headliner that the 22's came with. You did the roof rails that we did not. We bought and paid for the spare tire with the tow package when we ordered the car in March of 22 and this was deleted from DDSRT's built after June of 22. The best news for buyers of 23's is the time from order to delivery has been cut in half from where it was in 22.

Now.... how would you have any experience with that????? just kidding... :p

When I ordered my 22' DDSRT in June 2022 the tow package and spare were already not an option, I did not splurge on an of the technology package as my dealer stated that this would cause for my rig to be delayed as so many components for the tech package were scarce. Ordered mine in June 2022 and received in August 2022.

Unfortunately there is no opting for anything for the 23s. Plus package or premium package and whatever package you pick that’s what you get. Only option for the 23s is the Black package

Very nice. I see you got the black package...your mirrors are black but your sharkfin is white. I did not get the black package....my mirrors are black and my sharkfin is black. I swear these guys are just rummaging through the parts bins to clean everything out.....LOL....

Good write-up and comparison. I went from a 2018 Durango SRT to a 2021 Durango Hellcat so I got to experience some of these changes a few years ago.

The Hyper Black wheel thing has been a disaster from day one. Not sure how Dodge could market that as Hyper Black when, as you know, they are silver.

The black mirror caps for ALL SRTs for 2023 was another unfortunate compromise. I didn't catch the black sharkfin on all 2023s until you mentioned it and had to go back and check other pictures and sure enough...wonder how much Dodge is saving with that change?

"SRT by Brembo" on the calipers was new for 2021 when the Hellcat came out. It hasn't changed since.

Can't wait to see how many times you accidentally hit the hazards button when reaching for your phone.

I miss the roof rails and cross members on the Hellcat as we cannot get them. I guess they reached a limit for roof life at 475 HP.

The barrels of the Hyper Black wheels are painted black and this is interesting as they are gloss black. I was fine with the Silver wheels as they are a much darker finish than the ones on our SRT Jeep.

Not sure what you mean... Perhaps you didnt know but hyper black has been used as the colour name for silver wheels with what appears to be a dark clear for ... decades now. They are using the correct colour term as hyper black is like a dark tinted silver chrome type look and isn't supposed to be "black".
