My 2011 Crew's power lift gate goes all the way up but slowly sags/lowers. There is a beefy looking strut on the left with an electrical connection. I am assuming that actuates the up and down movement. The right side just has a regular strut. I saw where I can replace the right one for under $30. Will that fix the issue, or do I need to replace the left side also?

I would assume that the right side strut (non mechanical side) has lost some strength...thats the shock that actually holds up the tailgates weight... should fix the issue...

I would agree with Brian, be careful to support the lift gate before you disconnect the strut, as the lift gate will comedown

I've got the exact same issue with my 2011 Citadel. I'd be interested to hear if replacing that strut helped you.

I was at the dealer this past Saturday for 2 safety recalls and they wanted $120 to do diagnoses... forget that.

I replaced the gas strut on the right. $38 delivered to my door from Amazon, 30 second install, and works like a charm.
You mind posting a link for others?

hello,
as of this morning my 2011 Crew lift gate opened fine with my remote keyfob. Once opened all the way it then sagged a bit. when I went to close it, the power button located on the panel of the truck would not work. I had to manually close it.

would anyone think this was a strut issue or something else that I should have checked?
any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
