My guess is the dude who started this thread checked his sticker and learned he actually has an RT with just the tow package. Hence the crickets.

Here’s a question: how much HP does the “High Performance Exhaust” add to the 5.7 over the standard RT exhaust, and is this the same exhaust that comes on the SRT?

Same exhaust that is on the SRT from what I understand. I don't think it gives you anymore HP or torque, but it probably feels more responsive because the engine can breathe better with the larger diameter pipes. It won't sound like the standard R/T or the SRT because of this engine/ exhaust setup as well.

Exhaust is going to sound different on the SRT than the TNG just due to the fact you have a "bigger pump" pushing air (392 vs. 345) through the system.
Yeah, not really concerned that my RT sounds like an SRT, I was just curious what the benefits of the “High Performance Exhaust” were. Almost everything on the Tow n Go package list is a performance-based upgrade. I mean….one could argue that the “active-noise control system” is a performance upgrade (it upgrades the comfort of the cabin). It just seems odd, that a performance-focused company like Dodge would pose by calling something a “high performance” anything when at the end of the day it does nothing but look or sound cool. Call me crazy.

It is a true High Performance system you get the benefits of a built in x pipe contained within the suitcase muffler. It is a more "straight thru" system then the standard RT exhaust system. Does it add any additional HP based on this? Good question? I am sure the HP numbers for the 5.7 were based off of Dyno numbers from the standard exhaust so you may pick up a couple more withthe SRT exhaust. Having my 2014 Challenger on the Dyno countless times I can tell you my BORLA ATAK gave me nothing on the dyno. It still produced 330 RWHP which is pretty standard for most 5.7's that are stock.

Give the exhaust 2k miles to break in. The TnG exhaust will sound awesome.
My standard R/T exhaust woke up around 2k and it sounds pretty nice now.
Not much idle grumble but running it 0-100MPH it sounds freaking commanding!

I have over 30,000 miles on it. Again, not really concerned about how it sounds; I agree it sounds awesome, but more interested in the “high performance” aspects of it, or, why Dodge calls it “high performance” if it doesn’t actually increase the performance of anything. As previously mentioned by a fellow esteemed member or 2 here, it may allow the engine to breath better, but if that doesn’t actually increase performance (you’d think there would be something you could see results on if this was the case….hp, mpg, something) then labeling it “high performance” is misleading, imo.

Yep.... we probably all realize now its more 'marketing' than anything else.... sounds better than calling it "Louder than normal Exhaust" :p

An aftermarket exhaust versus the stock sport exhaust does not make additional power showing the factory exhaust is pretty great and not restrictive to what the engine is pumping through exhaust valves. If you get a better flowing exhaust then stock, it will only benefit you if you mod the engine such as headers, cam, intake, TB, etc.

If it is different than standard they (FCA) had to give it a different designation of some kind. Larger pipes means it breathes better which translates to better throttle response. Hence, high performance exhaust. If you go one step further and delete the mid- suitcase, you can do one of the following: 1) mufflers (quiet the motor while keeping factory HP/ Torque #'s). 2) straight pipe it (it will be somewhat louder and MAY gain a few ponies with restrictions gone) 3) x pipe it (will gain a few HP and will change sound of exhaust). 4) H pipe it (deeper/ throatier sound and will gain minimal torque as well as HP due to better exhaust flow.) Keep in mind that any time you allow an engine to breathe better, you tend to lean on the throttle a little more which results in fuel economy numbers dropping, but then who buys a V-8 for fuel economy....lol!!!!!

Good to know. Thanks for that.
