Hi folks, Sonce the volume control on the stock radio is pretty much chot I' kicking aroun dhte idea of a replacement BUT I have a couple of questions before I jump into it.
First of all I kinda like the stock head unit because of the din and a half thing. I just am not crazy about putting a din unit it that space. The colume control on mine sometimes works, most often not so mcuh. I did the AllPar thing, took it a part and sprayed the pot with contact cleaner. It worked better but still doesn't always work correctly. Sometimes it won't turn down, plus the cleaner seems to have turned a seciont of the LEDS from green to a not so lovely orange.
Secondly I was looking at JVC HD1 because one of the engineers at the radio station where I work has one and highly recommends it. But it's the single DIN and like I said I'm not crazy about that but??
I don't want a boom car sound stock is fine for me. However since I don't have an Infinity system if I wanted to put in a small amp is there a unit that would mount behind the passenger kick panel?
I >might< go for a unit that has a DVD video display IF I can hook up a rear camera unit through inputs. I've seen a couple with pop up screens but when they're out they kinda block the dash vents. Will that damage the screen?
One big thing is I don't want to have to change the speakers unless I have to. IIRC they're 4 ohm. Do most of the aftermarket units only have 8ohm outputs? Are there any that would fit without changing the speakers?
If that's true I guess I pretty much have to stay with a stock unit. I've seen some on eBay but they seem pretty expensive for a used unit.
