I started hearing a ticking noise not too long ago so I went to investigate. Seems like the two rear manifold bolts on passenger side are gone. Not sure if there are snapped, rusted off or fell out. Is this a common problem and does anyone have some details on what next steps might be. I don't have a hoist so crawling aroung on the ground. .

It is indeed common on the 5.7 engines, once they are up in the miles. The 4.7L, to a lesser extent. Dodge used some low bid hardware for these bolts, and it shows. Some searching here should reveal others who have dealt with it.

On the 4.7L I had the exhaust manifold gaskets fail...but none of the studs/bolts for the actual manifold. Some of the ones holding the heat shields have failed however.
5.7L common and typically requires some heat to remove and drilling or welding a nut on to the remaining stud. So a professional recommended..unless you have that skill set.

I had this issue. I was lucky and mine broke at the head. Welded a nut to the end and was able to get them out.
You can try drill bit (for metal) and make a small hole On the broken bolt and use an Easy out bit.
This happened about 2 months ago. Got new bolts and gasket from Rockauto $30 for everything.

Plugs on the Gen 2 are not to bad for either V8. The 5.7 has 16 of course. A good selection of extensions, and a good plug socket that will grip the plug helps a lot.

Here is my write up from when I changed the plugs in my '04 5.7L in May of '14 at 50k. Your '06 won't have the plug wires of course.

2004 Hemi plugs changed!

The oem Champion copper plugs are spec'd to be changed at 30k miles intervals. You can stretch that a bit. I a ran a set for 50k, with no noticeable change in performance. I'd not go past that though.

Re the wires, the '04 and maybe the '05 had a secondary wire that runs to a plug on the opposite bank. The wire was discontinued for '06 I believe.
