I'm shopping on-line for a used 2021 R/T. Some of them have 2nd row Captain Chairs. I have seen photos of these and have no use for them since I almost always have the second row folded down on my old R/T.

However, I have never seen a photo of what it looks like when they are folded down. It looks like there would be a big hole between the chairs where things would fall into.

Can someone clarify this and maybe post a photo?

There is either an empty space or a console (if you have the console option).
Get the 7 passenger R/T those seats all fold down and you get a huge area for storage.

If it matters to you I think resale is better for 2nd row captains chairs than the bench seat.
I do not thinks so but that is my opinion. Every Mopar vehicle I see with 2nd row cptains chairs, the whole 2nd seat area looks undone and cheap looking. The consoles are a terrible looking design and withput the console it is worse.

With the SRT it is your only option. Lightweight package is now unavailable ( tried for three days with Dodge on the phone to make it happen) so we are stuck with the captain seats for the second row.

FYI. The second row console lid folds forward to make everything flat for large items. Its a feature not everyone would notice.
The diagram posted does not show a flat surface, it shows a depression. When you say "make everything flat", are you referring to "nothing sticks up", or do you actually get a full flat surface like you do in the 7 passenger model?

Nothing sticks up. Flipping the lid on the center console will leave the console open.

Thanks for the photo. It looks like the console fills up the hole that would otherwise be there, and that's okay for me.

However, I thought I saw somewhere that the rear console was a separate option from the captain's chairs. Is this true? Wouldn't not having a console leave an empty space where things would fall into?

The console is an option. If you don't order it then the two captains seats get inboard arm rests that aren't there when the console is there. Without a console you get what they call a "mini floor console" which is a fixed rubber mat with two cup holders in it. This is so that you can allow access to the rear seat if you had two car seats buckled in. This is why we got ours with no console.

Yes, the gap between the seats will still be there without the console.

Much thanks for the photo. Now I know that I could never live with that option.
Never an issue with the gear i carry but I don’t put things over the gap that are smaller than the gap….. if you were using it full time as a cargo vehicle no biggie to lay down some 1/4 ply and a cargo cover.
