04 Durango 3.7

Howdy all. Seems like a gre
at place. Bought my first dodge this week, 04 Durango 3.7 with 120k.it sure seems solid and is super clean. Of course windshield cowl needs replacement and I have one on order. Just wanted to say hello and thanks for all you do to help! 5X

A second gen Durango with a V6! Welcome to the site.

Somewhat rare around here! Almost everyone posting has a V8.

Get some pictures posted up when you get a chance. Especially the engine bay....I'd like to see that.

2WD I don't tow or anything. I'm pleased with it. Cowl my only complaint. Got one on it's way.

Welcome to DDN. A rare D indeed. I don't believe the V6 was available with AWD, as it was power challenged as is with the D's 5000+ pounds. I don't have the numbers at hand for production, but we sure don't see or hear from many folks with them.

Yes it is. Third row I don't need but it folds down nicely. No wrecks or anything. No rattles. Its fun to drive. I have to keep that water off the motor. Gets into a coil pack and on top of plug. Hoping it doesn't rain until Thursday. Thanks much

Very nice pics 5X! The underhood areas look like new for 120k. I am not usually a fan of white, but I have always felt that white looked good on a Durango, regardless of the generation. I especially liked the White Gen 1 with the Silver accent wheel flare and /or front/rear bumpers.

This link provides some good info for the 2004 D, including the 3.7L version.
I thought that the 3.7L was paired with the 42RLE trans, which is confirmed here. The standard axle ratio is the shorter 3.92. You can tow 2000 pounds with an add on hitch, and up to 3700 pounds with the oem tow group.

Got my cowl put on today. Rubber seal fits perfectly against windshield. I should be good for a year or two now. Shame on Chrysler for such a poor design.

I'm almost certain it was the original 18 year old cowl. It was shot. No telling how many coils and plugs have been in it. With 120k on it I'd like to get 80k more over next 8 years without a ton of headaches. I really like driving it.
